I have never had to do the Day by Day before, but I want to get a GV and a Studio at HHI during the summer. Do I tell MS that I am doing day by day? or do I just reserve that one night and then add to my ressie every day after?

On the first day you tell MS that you will be calling day by day and what the last day you will be calling will be. They will make note of it. Each day when you call you just add one day and remind the new CM what you are doing.

Good luck.

I always tell the MS that I am doing day by day. The CM has always been very nice and never ever indicated that I am "a pest". The CM will usually ask my final check out day (if not, I volunteer it). The CM says he/she will put a note on my ressie that I am doing day by day so that I only get one reservation number and one confirmation letter. Works well/easily every time.

Have done this many, many times as I am a BWV owner and like to stay in standard view rooms during early December. Day by day is a must for that.

Best wishes -

Good luck! :)

Sometimes, MS will even suggest calling day by day. And after the first day, each day after is usually less than 30 seconds on the phone with MS.

One other item to note ....

Your first call-in day is exactly 11 months prior to the DAY AFTER ARRIVAL. The DVC reservation window is based on the check-out date, not the check-in date. Therefore, if you want to make a reservation for June 5th, checking out on June 6th, the first day you can call is July 6th.

As a funny side note, I just completed a day-by-day reservation ... while on vacation in Hawaii! It wasn't enjoyable setting up a 3:00am wake-up call while on vacation, but we now have our Vero Beach Cottage reservation for the end of May.

It's a reservation process that is only needed for the absolutely highest-demand DVC options.

For example ... There are only 6 Vero Beach Cottages, so they get booked up very quickly. If you wanted to book one for a week, to do so under a single reservation call, you would need to wait until 11 months before your CHECK-OUT date (assuming you are a Vero Beach DVC owner). The problem is that while your last day of stay can only be booked on that day, the other 6 days were opened up to DVC reservations on the prior days. By the time you call in, some or all of those days may have been all booked up by other members who were completing their stays prior to you, or who were booking on a day-by-day reservation.

To make it fair for everyone, Disney allows you to book each day separately, as the reservation window for that day opens up. It's a bit of a hassle, but it puts everyone on a level playing field as far as enabling each member the opportunity to get the dates he/she desires.

My understanding is that day-by-day reservations are really only needed for Vero Beach Cottages, Grand Villas, and possibly for Standard Point Rooms at the Boardwalk in the month of December. Most other room types have enough capacity to just about ensure that you'll get your desired room once your actual check-out date becomes available for reservations at the 11-month window.

Could someone clue me in on the day by day. What need/advantage does this
give you?

There are many more DVC members who don't read the Dis-Boards. The vast majority probably either don't realize or don't think about the fact that you can call day by day for a reservation. By doing so for those high demand, peak times, you may get a room that someone else doesn't realize he/she could also be calling for.

Knowledge is good as Emil Faber is quoted as saying. ;)

Its very easy to do. Once you have made that initial call, all the rest of the calls are handled rather quick.

Would a day by day be the best way for us to get into BCV (our home resort) in Oct. next year. We are planning a 2 week stay during the F&WF with family.

Would this be our best way of getting our rooms, a 2 bdr & possibly a studio, or should we just wait to make a regular ressie for the whole time period?

Thanks,
Rudy

Rudy,

I would call the 1st day and see see what it looks like. The CMs will tell you. Then depending on what they say either call everyday or "risk" calling at least weekly, I would NOT wait until the end of a 2 week reservation to try, not at BCV for 2 rooms during F&WF.

Planning is key during peak times.

Good luck and have a great trip.
