I like going to waterparks, I like waterslides. But I am never sure how to "do" the park. Do you wear shoes and if so what do you do with them during the rides. I would like to take a camera, but again what to do with it during the slides. How do you carry your money around. I have seen those little waterproof tubes you wear around your neck, but would they let you wear it on the waterslides?? I need help!!! Please give me your suggestions.

Hi mcgrawfan!

I always wear watershoes in the water parks, and I leave them on while going down the tube rides. If you have to take them off on the body slides, just hold them in your hands with your arms folded across your chest.

The best idea (I think) for a camera is to purchase a waterproof camera just for your days at the water parks. You can use the wrist strap and keep it with you all the time.

If your swimsuit has pockets, keep your money in there (you may want to keep just enough for a snack, and keep the rest in a locker), or use one of the waterproof tubes (which you can hold in your hand as you go down a body slide, just as you would your water shoes). Somehow I suspect that the CM's at the water parks are quite used to gettting wet money. ;)

Have a great time! Disney's water parks are truly not to be missed!

I have not done the Disney Water parks but we do spend alot of time at a water park near our home and the experience is probably similar. I would suggest some type of sandal or watershoe, esp. if you feet are least bit tender. I have found that my feet get toreup unless the concrete is very smooth. The concrete can also get very hot and is painful to stand on in barefeet. I have a pair of Nike Sunrays. These sandals are only in boys or mens sizes. I wear a ladies 9 and bought a boys size 12 and they fit fine. They stay on my feet even on the slide. A water camera is great to have at the water parks. I take it on the slides(depending on speed of slide). I wrap the strap around my wrist and holdon to it. Those things are pretty undestructable. I also have one of those waterproof money holder. It is the kind shaped to hold credit cards and has an adjustable strap. On the slides I just adust the strap tight so it won't fly up into my face and tuck the extra strap around my bathing suit shoulder strap. I hope this helps and have fun.

We've been to the water parks many times.

We always arrive wearing our suits with a cover-up and sandals. We bring beach towels, beach bag, small cooler with drinks and sandwiches (no glass or alcohol allowed - they do check the coolers at the gate for these items), and a plastic box (w/ handle) to hold snacks, reading glasses, etc.

We are there when the park opens (you'll want to be there 15-20 min before announced opening) and then will head directly to a section and grap one chair for each member of our group (4). We spread out our towels to indicate the chairs are taken and then will tuck our bags, etc. either on top or next to the chairs.

Our sandals, shoes, camera, car keys, and other misc stuff has never been touched in all the times we've been there. We just keep these items tucked out of sight in our bags.

There have been years where our water park ticket was the same as our resort ID or was a PHP. These were definitely items that I did not want to lose. Those years, I would go back up and wait in line to get a small locker and then would store those items I couldn't afford to lose. They give you a locker key on a stretch band that you can just wear on your wrist.

Like I've said, though, we've never had a problem with our items being messed with at our chair location. I never take in more things (money) than I think I'll need either. All unnecessary charge cards, IDs, etc. I leave in the car or back in the room.

As a side note, the majority of the visitors at the water parks will be barefoot as they move around the park. You will see some with water shoes, but they are something that is totally optional.

Once you are settled, you may want to head directly for the slides as the lines can get quite long later in the day.

Have a great time!

Here is my experience at BB.

Water shoe - not necessary, but if you wanna walk faster and comfortably, use it. However, when you take the water ride, they will ask you to take off the shoe and hold it while taking the ride.

Camera - They have staffs holding camera to take picture for you, such as taking a picture right after a rafting ride. This is the kind of picture that you can never take by yourself. If you wanna bring your own camera, go to the sports mart to get a water proof case for your camera.

Money - Disney booth over there sells waterproof case with a string to carry around your neck, which costs you $6. I didn't get this case, I just take a $20 bill and put it in my bag. Where I dropped this bag on the bench andl left my wallet at the locker. You don't need too much money at the park. Pop cost $1-2, turkey leg cost $4.5. They might ask you to hold your waterproof case (instead of wearing it) while taking the water ride.

Hope these help!

I just left all that stuff on the lounge chair with my towel. I tucked my money in my backpack and threw my towel over the whole mess. No one messed with it. Granted, I didn't take a whole lot of money either.

I wore my water shoes around the park, but I took them off when I went to the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon.
