How do you determine your target weight/size?

I am a small person to start with, and I wonder if my weight/size goals are realistic. How do you know what you really should be working towards? Is it just how you feel, what clothes you can wear, or is it inches and weight? I would love to be a 100-lb, size 4 like I was when I graduated from college, but I don't know if I'm going to get there (or even if I should)!

I'm shooting for healthy BMI.

I have four pounds to go to get into my range-absolute high end. Then I want to lose 10 more-140 is the high end, 135 is my doctor discussed goal to put me in the middle, and 130 is my end goal so I have five pounds to play with...so when I get up to 135, I'll work harder to lose 5 and get back down to 130.

Psychologically I think if my 5 lb fluctuation brings me back to technically "obese", I'll just keep going and put much more on.

I don't know how tall you are but there are minimum BMI's as well.

I had set a personal goal of 140, but after talking to my doctor, I changed it to 150. Because of my body type, we decided that 140 would probably look too thin for me. I knew that I was probably setting a 140 goal because of a personal hang-up about wanting to be under 150. Now, I am making my goal 150 and will see how I feel after that.

I think the best thing would be to talk to you doctor first. See what s/he has to say and how you feel about that suggestion. Good luck with your goal setting!

Last May the nurse at the doctors office suggested I shoot for 130. I went beyond that to 123 - somedays I weigh in as 119.

I want to get down to 120 just once more. I probably won't stay there, and will be happy at 135-140 on my 5'6" frame, but I want to be totally thin at least once more in my lifetime, even if it is just temporary.

I have a larger/muscular frame, so I can carry a little more weight.

twotoohappy - Thanks for the link. I tried it out and came up within the 'healthy' range! I still could lose some and be in the healthy range, though.

I spoke to my doctor today (just happened to have an appointment this afternoon) and he felt that I'm certainly physically fit, but that I could lose 20 lbs to get back to 100 and not be unhealthy. He did stress that's it's not needed, but if it makes me feel better and I do it in a healthy way, it would be ok.

I'm going to keep exercising like I have been and just see where it takes me. The important thing is that I FEEL better overall, no matter what the scales are telling me right now!

I don't have an ideal, though it would be nice to be the weight that my drivers license says:p, I just figure that I will know it when I get there.

When I jioned TOPS my DR. and I talked about it . A couple of years ago he said 60lbs. But when I jioned last year Feb. we agreed on 40lbs. I knew that would be possible for me. I would be around my weight when I graduated 28yrs. ago and when I got married 26 1/2 yrs, Make it possible for yourself.
