How do you define intelligence?

I think intelligence is an ability to learn new things quickly and be able to apply previously learned knowledge to solve new problems. It is the ability to recall relevant information from your mind's database and use it when necessary. It is the overall strength of mind and awareness of a wide variety of topics pertaining to other places, cultures, and time periods. It is also a general "awareness" of the world and what is going on in it, and the curiosity and motivation to continue learning new things.

Absolutely! I had this argument with my X many times. She insisted that she was more intelligent then I was because she held two Masters Degrees. Intelligence is the ability to learn and process information. Many a person are well educated but dumber then a bucket of rocks when it comes to street smarts, common sense, socialization and a multitude of other things. Due to whatever circumstances that I lived, I didn't have the level of education that she had, however, for her it was some sort of ego builder to believe that she was more intelligent then I was because of that. I made the mistake of replying that if she were all that intelligent she would know better then that. Oops! I did mention X didn't I?

I think with many people, intelligence can come with age, based on real life experience. Or maybe that is wisdom.

I person that is wise always was intelligent. Stupid remains that for life. There is never a point where one is wise with that start.

The proof is in the pudding. No intelligent person argues with their spouse that they are more intelligent.

If you can name, off the top of your head, all the World Series and Stanley Cup champions (and losers) since 1968, you're intelligent. Bonus points if you recall how many games each final series lasted, and the score of the deciding game.

Knowledge of the same for the NBA and NFL is a false positive.

The best I can remember from education classes there's about 8 different intelligences....and what's funny is the word "intelligences" that we were supposed to write about, is always underlined as a spelling error
