How do you deal with trip cancellations?

Hello!

I was just wondering if people have any methods as to dealing with trip cancellations to Walt Disney World?

I usually start planning my next trip, even if it is only a fantasy trip. I'm sorry you had to cancel!

Melissa

When our 10 y.o. Labrador tore her cruciate ligament and had to undergo surgery two weeks before our eight-day long scheduled trip to Disney, my husband and I knew we wouldn't be able to go. We would never leave her for someone else to take care of during such a critical time. We'd had our ressie for 11 months and had been looking forward to the trip all year! Making it even worse (apart from our worries about Augusta, who is doing reasonably well now) was the prospect of losing the DVC points which would have simply expired--a rebook wasn't possible. We decided that rather than to cancel entirely, we'd split the trip. So, he ended up going for the first four days. He flew home, then I flew down and spent the next four days there. Definitely an unconventional way to spend a 29th wedding anniversary trip, but at least we avoided an entire cancellation. I just got back from my half of the vacation last week.

I am so sorry about your dog.
But I am glad that you got to go on vacation - somehow.

We are not sure if we are cancelling but, the chances of us cancelling is quite large. Much like Quicklabs, there is some health issues within the family - so of course those issues are more important than a vacation - but we were all looking forward to it so much!

Fingers crossed we don't have to cancel it, but it is more than likely :)

Planning the next trip would take my mind off things!

I am so sorry about your daughter.

Although I'm sure that Augusta is like a child to them, I think they were referring to their dog, not their daughter.;)

Oh goodness! I think I meant to write dog, but I was thinking of something else at the same time.
I'm sorry!
I've been making silly mistakes like that all the time now. Reading things that arn't really there.

Augusta IS like our child to us. Both of our "girls" have us wrapped around their little yellow paws...
Thanks for the good wishes. The road to recovery for cruciate surgeries is a very long, very trying one. But we will do whatever it takes (including missing Disney if need be!)
Hope you won't have to cancel your plans.
