Hi everyone

I am going to disney in 15 months and I am already getting obessed with
going to disney! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

How do you all deal with the build up to disney?

Just curious?

for now i'd just revel in the excitement of it all.....and after you've read about it all over and over and over again it should dissipate a little....I found that after booking last wednesday I'm still quite excited and trying to plan dining and stuff but it's no good as we cant book it yet! The excitement level at the minute is waning a little and then I'm gonna try and control my excitement in milestones....ie get excited when we book park tickets....then a bit more excited when we book dining....and in between times try and keep it down and get on with my daily routine (which is supposed to involve me working!)

We normally book about 12-15 months in advance & find that initially your excitement level is high & then it dips slightly only to pick up again the closer the holiday comes. I normally do my initial itinery & then tweek it as & when park times, events become known. We have just paid our balance & with everything booked we are starting to get to fever pitch, just as well the World cup is on to take my mind off it!!!
SD :woohoo:

im currently on that 'just booked' buzz! just trying to figure out day plans to get all of the parks/shopping days/character meals fitted in!

I find the best way to cope is to DIS DIS DIS! :woohoo: Chatting to all the like minded people on here helps to keep you sane - well almost!

yeah i love now being able to come on here and talk disney whenever the whim takes me!

When me and DD(19) keep going on and on and on and on .... about going (only 4 weeks on Sunday). My DH just reminds us about the depressed state we'll be in, when we're coming home!! So if we say....'its only 4 weeks on Sunday...." he replies... " well, just think we'll be back home in 6 weeks on Monday.." ... we carry on getting excited regardless!!!!!

I wish I knew. Not only am excited about disney, but I am also sitting on a huge secret trip.

I am so excited. We are taking my brother-in-law and family to WDW in September next year. Their 2 girls have been to DLP and DL with us, but never the world.

I really want to tell them all now so I can talk to them about it, or at least book. But alas I have to sit on this secret until its closer to the time. DF thinks we will tell them 4 months before we leave ... but I don't think I can wait until then.

We have got all the 'free' planning videos and DVDs from about 1997. :happytv:

We watch them all the time, Can anyone remember the Mike Smith one? We also love the one where the 2 familes take you round the parks and the dad says "Its quite technical in places" about the disney studios

I also have a grid for the two weeks and and plan ADrs, which parks we want to visit etc

Dh thinks I wish my life away,

as it says in the advert ..." Are we nearly there yet, I'm so excited"

I currently have to be peeled off the ceiling on a regular basis!
I keep looking at the tickets and the suitcase.......the weather websites, currency exchange to make sure i got a great rate (i did!),planning videos, tour guide mike,Brits guide and last but not least the Dis.

Oh yes,i am so ready for this holiday :rotfl:

I love watching those old planning vids....I like to "Celebrate the future hand in hand" music from the millennium celebrations....i downloaded the full track and it's on my mp3 player.....the one that really gets me every time is watching the "Tapestry of Nations/Dreams" bit on the vids....I so wish I'd seen that!

For starters _ I dont tell my two toddlers we are going!!!This is half the fun for me,that they will have such a lovely surprise.
I spread out the booking of things...flights,then tickets a coupl months later. Then I book my Character meals a couple of months later. These boards help keep the excitement fed too,

Lynn :thumbsup2 :sunny:

THATS SOUNDS LIKE ME!!
sorry didnt mean to shout but i really understand :teeth:
mrs jobba, my hubby says i wish my life away too...

i think a more appropriate question would be how do you deal with the low when you get back??

tracy

I get very excited the day I book (had this experiance this weekend after boking virgin) and thats all anybody heres about.

I buy my brits guide and make my way through it over the next few months while making adrs and suprise things,

then I start shop which keeps it going for me, by three months ou chris is getting excited.

with the added bonus of two disney holidays booked, Im ready to burst lol

and I think I just slipped under three months to go :cheer2:

Spend lots of time on the Dis, plan the restaurants and places to eat at, read the books, listen to podcasts and then just sit back and wait for the time to pass.

Oh my gosh, I definately bore everyone around me to tears, I make itinerary after itinerary, read dining menus, listen to podcasts, DIS endlessly, make my ADRs, plan DIS meets :teeth: shop, watch my planning videos...and yes I too wish my life away.
Suprisingly with only 7 weeks to go, I am totaly calm in the excitement stakes. I feel like I've booked everything I could possibly book, have sorted all my tour plans, have a packing list and I'm good to go. I don't think there's any WDW knowledge left for me to aborb now, just got to sit and wait.
The World Cup and 2 of my kids birthday in July will certainly help pass the time.
I do understand though, my counter for October started at 17 months and I thought it would never move, this is definately the right place to get it moving,

I enjoy every minute of it. I DIS a lot, plan my itinerary, read my Brits Guide, and if I've got it really bad I listen online to Magic FM my favourite Orlando radio staion online or watch some old holiday videos :)

Glad I'm not the only nutter...................

I can't count how many times I've watched the planning DVD, read the brochures, watched home movies from past trips, bored the pants off anyone who'll listen, read the DIS (including all 100 pages of the Swan information thread ;) ) and generally bounced around singing "I'm going to Disney World, I'm going to Disney World" !!

..................did I mention that I'm going to disney World? :woohoo:

:rotfl2:
