How do you cool your upstairs?

I have this problem. We only have one vent in our master bedroom and DH refuses to sleep with the door open to get more ventilation. I end up running around downstairs at night and closing all the vents down stairs and leaving on the master vent open then we actually turn up the AC for the night. Backwards and not at all cost effective. If we were going to be here all summer we would get a window unit for the bedroom but we are moving in 5 days!! :)

I also suggest getting shades for the upstairs as well as curtains--you can buy ones that have a light filtering element already on the back or you can purchase the light filter seperatly----I have found that if I shut some of the vents on the first floor in rooms not used much or for only short periods of time(laundry room bathroom etc) that this allows more of the colder air to get upstairs--also shut the vents to rooms you don't use upstairs (extra bedroom bathroom etc) this allows the cool air to be in the rooms you most need it in!

Hope this works for you as well!
