My Dh only tolerates it too. He says it is a tourist trap. It drives him crazy that everywhere you look there are gift shops and they just want to suck the money out of your wallet. If he had his way all the time he would go camping, fishing, and just short weekend excursions. He is just not a vacation kind of guy. However, he does say that he enjoys seeing me and our 2 DS's have fun so he is a good sport about going. I think he usually ends up having a pretty good time.
I will say this.... if you and your BF are married and have children he may change his tune. I think WDW is always more magical when you see it through your children's eyes. If there are no children in your future you can always rent a niece, nepfew, grandchild etc.
I have often thought about what it would be like going solo....no DH or kids. It does sound kinda appealing to be able to do what you want when you want to, but I think I would get lonely after a couple of days. However, one should not worry how they look to others if they are alone. Others won't even notice.
