I'm new at this waiting for airfare stuff since we always drive. When you get a credit from southwest is it a credit to your credit card or is it like a voucher for future flights? If I book filights for November when they come out and they have a ding, do I book the ding online or do I call?
Thanks for any help!

When you get a SWA credit, it is in the form of a voucher for future travel BUT, people have had success in getting the money credited back to their CC (including me just a few days ago). To change the reservation, you go to the travel center and click on "change reservation" and it tells you what to do from there. After you finish changing the ressie, call the customer relations # (not the 800#, the one that starts with 214) and request that the $$ be placed back on your CC. I have done this at least 5 times without a problem.

I just received a credit to my credit card too...I had changed my outbound flight two separate times because the price went down (not a Ding). I booked the same exact flights I had originally booked so since there was no itinerary change, the SW rep was able to refund the difference to my cc.

It was very easy to change the flight ~ just like princess pumpkin has already said, just go through travel center and click change reservation. The only thing I'm not sure of is if you can change the reservation this way if you are trying to change to a Ding fare. I thought in order to book a Ding, you needed to cancel the original reservation and then use the SW credit to pay for the Ding resulting in a SW credit for the price difference.

Can anyone confirm this??

Yes, that's exactly what needs to be done. It is suggested that you open two different windows in order to cancel the first ressie and book the
ding in the shortest period of time possible.

Checked my SW fare this am and the exact same flights were $70 less than what I paid. I went to change reservations , not cancel and it does show up as a $280 credit for future travel. Can I still call the SW customer service # to get this refunded to my credit card?

Could I use my SW credit to purchase a ticket for someone else??

Thanks eveyone!!

call the customer relations # that begins with 214 (you can find it under "contact us" on SW website) and ask. That's exactly what happened with our flights and since you didn't change the itinerary, you should be able to get the credit. Good luck!

I changed my reservation on Saturday - didn't change the flights, but went through the process to get the cheaper rates. I called this morning and asked if I could get a refund to my credit card. The person I spoke to said I could, but I would have to call after our flight and make the request. My flight isn't until September and I verified that she meant that I would call in Sept after our trip to ask for the refund to our credit card and she said Yes.

Does this sound right? Or should I call back?

Thanks for the help.

I called the 214 number as soon as I changed my reservation (like 5 minutes later). It was back on my credit card within 10 days. I wanted to use that money for my trip :goodvibes
