How do you book for 2006?

I notice several posters who have resorts booked for 2006 already (even for late in the year). How do you do that when the rates don't even come out until -- what, June, August?

We just got back and I want to book for roughly the same time next year, hoping to get a good deal for doing it way ahead. Thoughts?

you won't get any deal for doing it ahead of time!! you can't book a package right now, just a room only ressie. we are going in jan. and we will be with other members of my family, so we'll need 4 rooms. for me to book it now, we would need to send them the cost of one night per room. and that is at rack rate. then when the 2006 rates come out i can call and switch the ressie. and i don't know if CM was right or not, but we are going during value season, and she said i would have to pay rack rate for regular season, in case that would change! DH thought that was nuts, so we haven't done it. it would have been over $2000 for me to do that!!

seems like they should come up with a better way to do it if you ask me! it's so frustrating!!

They base your reservation on 2005 rates and adjust when 2006 rates are released. You can only book a room-only reservation right now.

I booked my room only ressies a couple of weeks ago for late June 06. I needed two rooms and had to pay a deposit of one nights stay for both rooms. I was charged the current regular season rate, as if I was coming this year. I was told I could change this over to a package deal if I wanted when the 06 packages were announced.
