Hi everyone!!

Our family is lucky enough to be going to WDW the first week of Dec. Everyone on this forum helped us so much for our 1st trip last Oct!!!

I didn't go on Buzz Lightyear last year but would really like to go on it this year. How do you board it if you're a wheelchair user? Moving Platforms are NOT my thing!! There's no way I would be able to walk on one whatsoever on it. I'm pretty sure you don't have to transfer for this ride but, I'm confused on how you get on and off.

Thank you!!!

Don't worry, you don't have to deal with the moving platform on Buzz. In fact, they can stop the moving platform (or at least slow it to a really slow crawl) on everything except Peter Pan.
Fo Buzz, you can choose to transfer or not. You wait in the regular (or fastpass) line and when you are almost to the boarding area, a CM will pull you and your party of up to 6 off to board at the exit. Look for a gate with a wheelchair icon - you don't want to go in the regular line past that. The CM will usually ask if you want to stay in the wheelchair or not; if they don't ask, just tell them. You may have to wait a while for the wheelchair car (definately will if there is another wheelchair party waiting for it).
They stop the moving walkway to board wheelchairs. The side of the wheelchair car actually folds down to make a little ramp, they wheel your chair in and close everything back up. There is room for one wheelchair and one seated person in the wheelchair car.
If you choose to ride in a regular ride car, they can still stop the moving walkway and drive the wheelchair up to the ride car.
They will have you get off the same way you got on. They do keep track of which car has someone needing assistance in it. If you got out of the wheelchair to ride in the ride car, very rarely the CM at unload is not aware that you are using a wheelchair(usually if they have switched stations while you were on the ride) and will motion you to get up and out. If that happens, just say, "We have wheelchair" and they will take care of you.

Thanks Sue - That's great news!! Since last year was my 1st WDW vacation as well as my 1st vacation using my wheelchair I was really nervous about going on rides. This time I'm much more confident and comfortable!! Thanks for the advice!!

Any other rides you want to know about, just ask. I'm sure someone here can help you.

and if you find that you like Buzz, may I STRONGLY suggest you go to Universal and do MIB? :) perfectly accessible and a BLAST!!! :)
