I get a sore throat almost every time I go to WDW. One time I even got strep while I was there (that was the worst)

I am not quite sure why? Could be lack of sleep, going from cold to hot (air condition on busess in and out of stores and attractions)

I take vitimins, airborne, I try to get at least 6 or 7 hours of sleep.

anyone else experience this too?

Just came back from a week at disney... started to feel better towards end of trip now starting to feel sick again. lucky i have a few days off before i go back to work.

I have noticed this happens to me when I travel too. It happens when I go up to San Francisco all the time if I am near really moist air. I think it might be the humidity, but I noticed when I was in Vegas (even though it was more dry) that going in from heat into the cold and back out all the time not only wore me down and got me sick, that I had a headache and nausea too. I actually just finally wasn't able to fight off the cold I have been fighting for 2 weeks and am sick now. We leave in 2 weeks so I am hoping that I won't get sick again and that I get better before we go. Airborne didn't seem to work for me, but for some reason I noticed that claritin helped keep my allergies down so I didn't get sick last time.

Zycam. I get it in spray form and use it as directed. It keepsme safe from colds. I am a massage therapist and the amount of sick people we come in contact with is staggering. Zycam has been my saviour!!

Also HAND WASHING. Hand sanitizers might kill the germs on your hands but, dead germs can get you sick just as well. I am not a germaphobe but, with so many people with disregard for their health, I take a small bottle of Lysol, spray the room a bit. Using anti-bacterial wipes, I'll clean the surfaces in the room and the remote control for the tv.

Also, lots of water and emergenC which is a powdery vitamin C suplement that tastes great!!

Drink plenty of water. Stay hydrated. My sinuses always had to adjust from NY to FL climate every trip. The more water I drink during the trip, the better I feel.

I don't remember the logic behind it but my mom (a nurse) suggested I take benedryl once a day (at night specifically) to help avoid getting sick. I've done it for 2 trips and it seems to work. I'm a nut about washing hands and have been on every trip.

We did the Airborne thing and were diligent about handwashing. The kids, on the other hand, barely ever washed their hands, and we caught our toddler eating stuff off the ground on multiple occasions.

I'll let you guess who came home from Disney with colds, and who did not.
:rotfl2:

I'll go ahead and credit daycare with our kids' apparent superhumand immune systems.

I thought Ds7 was exhausted all of a sudden. Every time we would get in a line, he would plunk himself down on the ground. I took him back for a nap, then we went for our ADR. He sat on my lap on the bus and I noticed he was burning up! A visit to First Aid showed he had a temp of 104! After some Tylenol and dinner, his temp was down. I kept him at our room. He kept a low temp until dinner the next day, but again it shot up. We medicated him and dh took him back to our room. By the time they got there, he was fine and it never went up again. This was the last day of our trip.

We flew home last Friday, and by Sunday afternoon I had a 24 hour flu. Very bizarre.

Airborne. My husband was sick for over a week and still has the remnants of the his horrible cold and I haven't gotten it yet from him. He missed the entire Labor Day weekend and the next four days of work. He's still not well, but he went back to work today. Airborne every morning instead of OJ.

AND, wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands as often as possible.

:rotfl2: Isn't that always the way?

So far (knock on wood!) I've managed not to get sick at Disney.

I wash my hands thoroughly every time I'm in a bathroom (and whenever I return to my hotel room), keep my hands away from my face, and drink lots of water. It seems to work!

Traveling exposes you to new germs, so that's probably why you get sick.

Me...I grew up visiting my grandparents farm at least once a month, didn't wash my hands regularly, used an outhouse at my great -grandparents occassionally and I never get sick. I think I've built up immunities to most things.

If you find the cure, let me know! I've become familiar with emergency rooms and urgent care centers at WDW and Vero Beach. Seems like every time we fly, one of the kids comes down with a major sinus infection. One was so bad our son couldn't fly home... we had to rent a car and drive back home to the Chicago area! Then I had a gallbladder attack last time we were there. I swear that sickness finds us on these vacations.... Here's to healthier vacations for all!

We drink lots of water, take breaks and take our allergy pills. We also don't eat more than two or three counter service meals.

My kids think I'm crazy, but before anyone sets anything down in our room I wipe down all surfaces with clorox wipes - door knobs, drawer handles, tables, lamp buttons, phone, tv remote, bathroom etc etc. I also spray lysol on the comforters because I don't think they're washed often enough. Then I carry hand sanitizer and hand wipes that I'm constantly pulling out and forcing them to use. We wash hands as frequently as possible as well...and yes, I realize I'm a germ-a-phobe. :wave2:

I didn't do this for one trip, and ALL of us got sick. I don't really want to relive the misery of 5 people puking in one hotel room ever EVER again. :crazy2:

We've taken 10 trips in the past 3 years. We've been there in all 4 seasons and always during peak times...4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas, spring break. ...so super crowded! We eat at counter service, buffets, you name it. Flame away but I don't go around wiping down the room, lysoling every nook and cranny. I wash my hands a few times a day after using the restroom. My kids and DH do the same. My toddler has probably licked most of Disney World! :crazy2: And we've never once gotten sick!

My SIL on the other hand has ended up with sick members in their family. They wash hands constantly, use hand sanitizer all the time and definitely worry about germs more than we do.

I think too many people go overboard now and just have no immunity anymore. :confused3

I wash my hands everytime I use the restroom... but I dont carry around wipes/hand sanitizer. Maybe I should:confused3 I have a tendancy to touch my face rub my eyes... I know that doesnt help.

My friend says Im not use to the florida weather. I live in NJ.. and it was just as hot in NJ as it was down in FL. who knows.

Are you sure they are not allergies?

This is what I think a lot of it is. Different pollens / air / etc etc from where you are from. If I goto visit anyone outside of my area I will get 'sick' but I really do think it's more allergy type things.
