Is it hard? anyone pay attention to how they make those buns or other hairstyles? I'd love to know how its done! How easy is it to get out when you want to wash the hair up?

It was interesting to watch - DD and I are both too strong personalities for ME to do her hair like that! It took a lot of "product" and time to get her hair into the little bun. It probably would have stayed several days, but she wanted it down that night - she was pulling out pins on the bus back to the resort. We had to wash her hair several times to get it back to "natural," but it was absolutely worth it to have that hairstyle for a day.

Edited to add more detail:

Start with a normal kid:

Swoop her hair into a pony tail and tease and tease and tease:

Add a hair piece, tease some more, and perform some magic:

Mystify some Disney friends (sorry...couldn't resist):

And amaze the subject:

Obviously, there is Disney magic at work.

I just started watching a youtube on it. funny...every youtube I've watched shows everything through the FGMIT wrapping a small piece of hair around the hair tie to hide it and then the videos cut to the "finished bun". Do they make people turn the cameras off for the part they actually put it in a bun? Is it a secret or something? Or do all parents naturally take a break at this part for some reason???

they DO use a lot of product! do they use as much for the pop princess or disney diva as they do for the bun? Or since the hair is hidden do they use less product?

Another question---girls with bangs...do they put the bangs into the hairstyle and just gel them up to stick or do they let the bangs hang down naturally?

Your daughter is beautiful! That is the disney diva look, right?

To answer the ? about bangs, they left my DD's down.

She had the same Fairy Godmother when we went in January 2010...:)

Yes, I think that probably is the Diva. However, it is a proper bun underneath the hairpiece - it made me think that most of their looks start with a basic bun then deviate into the different styles from there. She changed into her own dress and crown after she was finished (truthfully, we were running late and the dress made it to BBB after we did; poor DH fought the parade crowds to get to the lockers and back with her dress).

My niece had the bun done on Thursday. Her hair is in a bob type style with bangs and the FGMIT asked her if she wanted to keep the bangs or have them up. She opted to keep the bangs and it looked really cute with the bun. Her hair is very thick and I swear they used a whole bottle of gel on her head.

You can keep your camera on as long as you want. There is no secret. The way they did my dd for the Fairytale Princess (bun w/crown) do is that they put it in a ponytail & wrap the hair around the ponyholder. They then put 3 small pony holders around the ponytail at equal increments. Then they simply roll the end of the ponytail up from the bottom and bobby pin it down. They then fan out the top bubble of the ponytail & it makes the "bun". It is really easy to do.

There is just as much product for the pop & diva do if not more because not only do they have to put up the girl's real hair, but they also have to spike up the hair extensions.

You have the choice for them to be down natural or slicked back into the style. Just let the FGIT know before she starts the styling. We have done it both ways. We have done BBB at least 10x from when my dd was 3 up to age 8 & have had eachs style at least twice. They have all lasted at least 2-3 days if not longer.
