How do they handle split stays

I will be in WDW Sept 23 - Oct 3. I am arriving 1 night prior to my family and staying at PoP. The next morning I am switching to POR for 7 nights and then switching to ASMo for 2 nights. How do they handle the baggage and check in? Will I leave my bags at the resort and then they will take them to the other resort? Will I have to go to the other resort to check in as I normally would if I were just arriving?

You would have to call bell services and arrange to have the luggage transferred. Yes you will have to check in at each resort. You might want to transfer you and the luggage by taxi so you have it with you and not have it arrive later in the day.
