How do they check for guns?

that's why they have scanners. the abovementioned teen was stopped at the scanners.

By the way, the story was the teenager was carrying the bag for the family, the bag had been borrowed from his adult sister and they didn't know the gun was in it. the boy was charged, however, the gun wasn't loaded, so who knows what the story is

The story keeps changing. First the mom said the gun had belonged to the sister for years but then it was learned that the gun had been stolen from another woman a month or so before. Plus, guns arent exactly light or small. I think if I were packing snacks in a backpack, I'd notice a gun.

From the story I read, the sister had a gun the exact same type as the one in the backpack, so I'm guessing the mom just assumed it was the sister's. But a search of the serial number indicated the gun was stolen.

Still seems like something's off here, but if the gun looked just like one the sister had, I could see the mom assuming/saying it was the sister's.
