How do these people end up as testers?

You sometimes see testers wandering around vmk with a few of their prestigious CL vip friends, showing off cool new magic or costumes, and I was just wondering how they became testers? Are they like hired by disney or friends of staff? Just curious.

Testers are paid staff. There have been times that players were chosen to "test" an item. This is only done after the staff has already tested it but before it is released to everyone.

How do those players get chosen? I've seen some people around who aren't on the tester's list with new stuff too, that must be those people. And thanks for clearing that up for me green- HEY! I just realized I saw you last night in the Green Pirate ship! Lol...
