We plan on brunching at Palo and was wondering how the tips are worked out? We're planning on leaving more than the $10, but how does that $10 get billed to you? Do they bring a receipt to your table and you can just leave cash on the table?.......Or is it automatically added to your stateroom account? Or can you sign for an extra tip?

The server will bring you a receipt to sign for the $10 charge, it goes on your room card. You can leave the additional tip in cash or on the room card when you sign for the per person fee.

We leave the tip in cash so the kids can have it right away to use in any upcoming ports if they get a day off.

Thanks webray - that's exactly what I needed to know - planning on leaving cash, too - just wasn't sure if you pay the $10 in cash also - but looks like it's charged to your card. Jo-Jo brings up a great question, too - I was planning on an extra $10 - is that enough? I know the service will be well worth it.....

I heard the $10 fee was to cover the tips (since the servers aren't covered in the tip you leave at the end of the cruise). Is this not correct?

We tipped what we thought was an equivalent tip for the dinner/service we received. I believe it was about $30 additional to the $10 for our first visit (we had a bottle of wine so the meal would have been well over the $100 mark)

Our 2nd trip I believe both couples had total a total bill of either $30 or $40 (including the $10). We did slightly less at brunch.

For Palo brunch on our last cruise I believe we left an extra $10 per person so brunch "cost" the two of us $40. Great meal! Great service!! Is it too much or too little - I don't really know - but it's what we wanted to do!

Yes, the $10 is meant to be the tip (per person) but due to the usual outstanding service many people want to leave an additional tip above & beyond the $10 per person.

No..the $10 is not the tip your server gets...it is a fee to eat in that restaurant.

We tipped an additional $50 at brunch..our server was outstanding...more for dinner..we had him again and he was spectacular.

Tip according to what the meal would be in a fine dining establishment. The way we were treated..we felt the meal would have been approx $150. We were totally spoiled by our server on the magic. On the wonder..not so spoiled, not such good service and the food wasn't near as good.

I believe that $10.00 per person is the tip for the waitstaff. Why would there be a fee to eat at Palo's? You can order just as much food in the other restaurants without a fee.

We always tip in addition to the $10 pp.

Yes - the regular 15% will be added for any drinks purchased.

I thought it was a "fee" that was split amongst the whole Palo staff. I agree with giving a tip equal to what you normally would get in a similar restaurant. Palo is more than great food and great service, you have to add in great ambience. Where else can you get that view?
