How do point transfers work?

We are DVC members at AKV. Our neighbors own at SSR. They have 200 points from their 2008 allotment that they are looking to sell/transfer. How does that work if we were to take the point transfer from them? Are those points then treated like they are at our home resort of AKV? Or for booking purposes are they still treated as SSR points? Are we able to bank those points to 09 if we wanted? Anyone ever do this before and have some insight on how this works?

They are supposed to remain SSR points and retain their original UY when transferred. I believe you can bank them as SSR points into the 2009 UY if you are in the banking window. This has been an issue in the past as the points took on the resort of the contract they were transferred into but supposedly this has been corrected.

I can confirm that the points retain their original use year and home resort status. I just had points transfered into my account and when I called to confirm the MS rep was able to tell me the home resort and use year of the transfered in points.

Thanks for the info. When I called MS I must have had someone new because the girl I spoke to said she didn't know.
