Our trip is scheduled for 11/29 through 12/11, flying Delta.

Due to last week's events, I am seriously considering driving though our tickets are bought and paid for. I have never done this before and I figured with my husband and I taking turns driving, it wouldn't be that bad.

My question is: Can I rent a car from Northern NJ, drive it all the way there and back? Has anyone done this? I just want to cover all my bases before we make a decision.

Thanks for all your help.

Shop around. Check each local car rental company's "geographic restrictions" and also mileage allowances which can differ depending on a variety of esoteric conditions. Some limit you to the renting location state and its neighbors, I believe Alamo allows you to go anywhere in the U.S. and Canada with unlimited mileage provided you stay on paved roads.

Some credit card collision benefits only cover rentals of so many days or less, check with your credit card company.
