how do I tweet?

So many times I've wanted to get on and tweet to someone and I have no idea how to start. for instance, I'd like to tweet with The Talk. Anybody?

I'm assuming you don't have a Twitter account, so the first thing you'll need to do is register for one. You can choose pretty much whatever user name you want, as long as it isn't already taken. After you have your account, start choosing people to "Follow". There's a search feature on there that can help you get started, and I found that once I discovered a few people to follow I could look to see who they were following and I found lots of other interesting people that way.

To tweet to a specific person, you need to start your tweet with @ and then their username. So if The Talk is TheTalk on there (I don't know what they really go by) your Tweet will say something like "@TheTalk, I loved your segment about . . . " or whatever sort of thing you wanted to say. You are limited to 140 characters per tweet, and that can take some getting used to.

Seriously, though. Go to twitter.com and you can register (for free) for an account there. Once you have that, you can follow the instructions the others posted. You can also go directly to The Talk's Twitter account and read their "timeline" which lists all of the tweets they are posting.

What is someone's particular Twitter thingie called? I read the Criminal Minds, actors' timelines at their Twitter accounts and then post any juicy stuff, like pictures they've posted on the CM thread here. (I don't follow them.) I never know what to call their individual Twitter accounts? Is there a certain phrase? Is it a Twitter feed? Just Twitter account?
