How do I stop??? A question for crafters.....

I am trying to make those "stretchy" bracelets for my first graders for Christmas. I bought ABC beads to personalize them with their names--they look so cute!
But here's my question....How do I tie them off neatly and securely enough so that first graders can wear 'em, stretch 'em, but maybe not break 'em within the first few hours?
Any help out there?

Thanks Sonja.....I tried to think of something both boys and girls would like. The boy's will be mostly black with their name and the girls will have all different colored beads and their names. I'm gonna use the bracelets as their name tag on the predictable teacher gift--a book!
You think Alex will wear it?

Tie it in a simple double-knot, then get a good craft glue and put just a drop or two of craft glue that dries clear on the knot. That should hold it for a while, anyway
