How do I get to National's Car Care Center from the Beach Club?

I KNOW you guys will know the answer to this.

I am trying to decide whether or not to get a cheaper rate on a rental car by picking it up at WDW and using ME rather than getting one at the airport and driving it in. The National counter at the Dolphin is closed when we arrive, so I would have to go to the car care center to get the car. ME would be dropping us off at the BC, so how would I get to the car care center? Would I have to take a taxi (another $20 and TOTALLY not worth the effort), or does Disney transportation go there? And, if so...how do I get there (i.e. what bus would I take)?

It just seems so convoluted to save $50 (not to mention, my ressie at the car care center is for an intermediate, and the one at the airport is full-size), that if someone can't tell me "It's a piece of cake" to get there...I'm probably going to take the bigger car.

TIA,

Can you just pick up the car the next day when the Dolphin opens or do you really need it that night. If you need it for shopping, I say get it from the airport. You know how easy that is.

I have read that your resort can contact the CCC and they send a shuttle to come pick you up. You must give them 1 hour advance notice. I can't verify this, because I've never done it.

I was going to do exactly what you are doing. Then I changed my mind and decided to go with the rental directly from the airport. I made a ressie with National using the American Express code listed on MouseSavers. I just made another ressie with Thrifty for almost $100 less ($145/midsize/8days). I will have to take a shuttle since Thrifty is off site from the airport, but I figure if I was willing to shuttle to the CCC, what's the difference?

Have fun!

We get in at 10:23pm and will take ME to our resort. The next day, we arepicking up our car at the Dolphin in between parks. It saved us about $70 to do this rather than get the car at the airport the night before.

National and Alamo have a shuttle that will pick you up at your resort or any park on Disney property. They take you to the Car Care Center. We did this for our June trip. We just called the day we wanted picked up and they came and got us. The phone number was on our confirmation receipt they emailed us. Then, when we returned the car, we got to take a shuttle from the Car Care Center to anywhere on Disney property, so we just returned it at 7am and had the shuttle take us to Epcot for the day!

Works so great!!!!

Thanks everyone for your response. I KNEW this board would come thru!!! :love2:

MEK...we don't really have to have a car that night. But, we sure do like going to the store the night we arrive to buy groceries instead of waiting until our trip "actually begins" (we always consider the morning we wake up at WDW the day our trip is starting, and we are VERY protective about making sure we don't have "non-Disney" stuff to do on that day). There will be five of us in a 2 bdroom villa, so the shopping might take a while. I would SOOO like to get that over with.

It is good to know about the shuttle. I will mention that to dh, and I will just let him decide (he's pretty spoiled...I think he will want to pay extra and get the full size at the airport....at least, I am hoping for that!!)

Thanks again...you guys are GREAT!!!

I will just throw in an idea. What about a grocery delivery? I doubt they would make a delivery that late in the evening but I bet you could get a very early morning one just before you leave for the parks!
And that would also save you the time of going and getting all the stuff you need. I have never used them before but alot of people talk about using the wegoshop service.

I thought about that, but I guess I am just a little too nervous for that. My dd is 3, and she has been to WDW in Dec twice...each time, she caught something and had to be taken to the hospital (once she was hospitalized in a ped. children's hospital about 30 minutes away for the last few days of our vacation...it was really awful). So, I am not yet ready to "NOT" have a car at WDW. Plus, we really like having one to drive to MK and AK (I hate taking a stroller on the busses). I guess my thinking is...if I am going to have to get a car, why pay someone to do my shopping? I do look fwd to the day when we don't have to get a car though...then I will definitely use wegoshop. I have heard wonderful things about them.

Thanks for the suggestion!!

Beca, On our last trip to WDW we decided to try wegoshop even though we had a rental car! It felt so decadent but with a one year old I thought doing grocery shopping right after a long flight was just too much of a pain. It was WONDERFUL and well worth the $20'ish fee plus tips. We arranged for the delivery to arrive at the resort about one hour after our estimated check-in and they were timely. We had a shopping list for 4 adults and one baby for a one week stay, so it saved us a long trip at the grocery store as well (and more time to relax and settle in). (I even had them buy diapers and other baby stuff so we didn't have to pack as much.) It was great emailing them our grocery list in advance -- I started about 3 days in advance and kept emailing them to add more stuff, up to the night before, and no problem at all. I specified Publix because I knew their prices were good and comparable to our home grocery store. DH thought it was a waste of money initially (since we were getting a rental car), but went with the idea because I told him I'd really like to try it. After the experience he agreed that was a good idea. :)
