How do I get out of the point hole?

We will be banking for the first time this year, too. DH will be losing his job at some point this year due to the closing of the plant where he works. We have decided to forego any vacations this year to concentrate on paying down bills and growing our savings as much as possible. We have promised our extended family a trip together in late 2010, however, so we won't lose those points.:crowded: The more, the merrier! Now if DH will just find another job between now and then.:scared:

Good luck on the job search, times are really hard right now for so many people. :grouphug:

We have almost 500 pts and we are in CONSTANT borrowing mode.

I have resigned to the fact that we will always be borrowing.:upsidedow

But hey, what can you do?:confused3 ;)

However, I do like the idea of buying more points :cool1: . That way, I have more points to BORROW!:lmao:

How in the world are you running out of 400 points? :rotfl2:

It's called 2BR Villas :) Those easily average around 280/pts for 6 nights and if you take 2 trips a year you are in borrow mode before you know it. 400 points doesn't go as far as it sounds once you start booking accomodations for 4 or more people.

I have 440 points but I am constantly borrowed to the max. I would like to feel what it is like to have a few banked points.

If Suze Orman were a DVC member, I would ask her. How do I get out of point debt and stay out? :goodvibes

When you find out let me know!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The way I look at it...

Ya'll can fight over reservations in 2042, we will be done with ours in 2040 :rotfl2:

We closed in September of 2006 on 180 points and were able to bank those points to start with 360 in 2007. We've been trying to use close to 180 or a bit more every year so that we can keep extra built up every year. I consider the 2006 points that we initially banked as our savings account. Doing so gives me a little more flexibility on year to year planning.
