We are brand new members...just closed on OKW. As such, we received a copy of the member guidebook (full of references to www.dvcmember.com). I tried to get into the site, but you need a username and password. Can anybody tell me where to get this?

Check inside the front cover of your 2002-2003 Member Guidebook and you'll find both the user name and password you need to access the site.

If that doesn't work, call MS and ask them for your password, they'll be happy to help. This forum has agreement that the information cannot be posted here, so that it isn't publically available to non-members.

Congratulations on your recent membership!!!!!!!!!!!!! OKW is so beautiful and relaxing.

Desperado, you state the forum has agreement - is that posted somewhere as a rule?

I do not get why people do not publish the information - there is nothing confidential in the web site whatsoever

thanks

The way it was explained to me when I asked a while ago (before I became the proud SSR owner that I am now ::yes:: ) is that, when information is provided exclusively to a certain group as a benefit, it isn't appropriate to publicly post ways to access it - usernames, passwords, etc. - to people not in that group. The example given to me was the Disney Club Members-only ressie phone number. I couldn't tell you where the "rule" is "posted', but I agree with the intent.

As an aside, there was no shortage of wonderful DIS DVCers who gladly provided the information to me privately. :wave2:

correct, there is only general info on the website, but needless to say, its still dvc members privaliage, and part of our membership package when each one of us bought into disney vaction club.
i dont think we get a fair amount of discounts or perks, why cant we just leave this perk to the dvc members only, who knows maybe dvc will add more info or reservations system to the website. pirate:

I remember this issue came up with a DVC member on Ebay that was selling reservations. She had the log in info and I believe the MS phone number in her auction. Many members contacted her and asked her to remove the information. She was not happy, but she did remove it from her auction.

I agree that there is nothing top secret on the member site, but I also know that my guide did not give me the password info until I received my temp id cards.

There must be a reason for this, as they have a special link for members only. I also agree that the posting of the MS phone number not be posted. Disney has very few Toll-Free options and the only reason DVC has one is because the members pay dues to support it.

Also the MS CM's will be fielding numerous calls from non-members to check availability only to be told they cannot.
That call still costs members money.

I agree that anytime anyone has asked, someone has always responded with a pm.

I think that not posting MS access info is just part of the informal code on this board. Not that someone determined can't get it, but we are placing a value on this perk as part of our membership.

Actually I thought it was a rule from the moderators, same as no discussion of occupancy limits. I don't know where they are written down, just that it's a forum rule.

I could be wrong. I'm certainly not a know-it-all poster who is never wrong (or at least thinks that way).
