How do I get DDP?

I have an annual pass and I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that I can now get DDP with an annual pass, right? So how do I do that? Where do I get it from?

Our trip is Oct 24-28 2008, staying 4 nights. It will be here before I know it! I've just recently decided that we'll try the DDP, I think it will save us some money and I am trying to do a budget-friendly trip this time! LOL

I already have the Dining Experience card (is it really "Tables in Wonderland" now?? LOL).

My kids are ages 2, 1, and 9. I will have to pay the Dining Plan price for myself, hubby and oldest daughter. So am I correct in thinking that it is 37.99 + 37.99 + 9.99 per night of my stay? And we will get 4 TS, 4 CS, and 4 snacks...correct?
Can I use the dining plan on our arrival day? We have Chef Mickeys that night and I'm thinking that would be a good one to use a TS on.

Here's my TS plan so far:

Oct 24
Chef Mickeys- Dinner (use DDP)

Oct 25
Ohanas - Breakfast - OOP

Oct 26
1900 Park Fare - Dinner (use DDP)

Oct 27
Biergarten - Lunch (use DDP) - thinking maybe I should change this to a Dinner to get more bang out of the buck? :rotfl:

Oct 28
Hollywood & Vine - Lunch (Use DDP)

I know- lots of Buffet places, but that's because the little ones are free there. :goodvibes
I figure I can use the ..Tables in Wonderland...card on the OOP meals that we do.

So...how do I get the Dining Plan so that I have it when we arrive? Can I get it at the hotel (staying at POP)?

Sorry no answer but we are annual passholders too and don't always stay on property so I would be very interested in this!! thanks for the question

YOu can purchase the dining plan with the AP, but there is a free dining plan with a Disney Visa card available for various dates through Dec 20. You should check it out because with 4 people, it would be worth it to pay basically the rack rate and get the FD in a Value hotel. We just did this. We did have a 54/night at ASMu but changed it to the free dining for about 82/night just last week. You do have to purchase a one day pass for each person, however, you don't have to use them and can apply them to a renewal on your AP or upgrade to a multiday pass for a future visit. The additional amount we had to pay for the room to get the free dining was about 194 for 6 days and then we have 2 one day passes for the future!! Just a thought. You can use the dining plan from the time you arrive until 12 midnight of the day of departure. YOu will receive one each of TS, CS and snack for each night of stay.

If you want to go the AP route instead of the free dining (for which you will have to buy tickets and you must have a Disney Visa to book it), call WDW and ask for a room/dining package for annual passholders.

You cannot add the dining plan at checkin. You must have a package booked, and packages cannot be altered after 72 hours prior to checkin.

AP holders can buy the DDP (without having to purchase tickets now) and we can still keep our room discounts, but we MUST be staying onsite. Adding the DDP turns it into a pkg however, with all the same pkg rules (must be paid by 45 days out and penalties paid if changes are made within 45 days of the trip).

As the previous poster said, for AP holders to get the free dining, we must pay rack rate for the room and also buy at least a one day MYW ticket for everyone in the room. You can then save that one day ticket and use it in the future to upgrade to another AP. The one day MYW ticket is good forever, as long as you never put it into a turnstyle. ( I have five of those silly one day tickets, I've accumalated over the last couple of years when AP holders still had to buy a one day ticket in order to buy the DDP:rolleyes1 ). I am so glad we no longer have to buy those one day tickets just to be able to get the DDP (again except to get the free dining).

A little off the subject, but I see you mentioned the saved 1 day passes. We, too, had to purchase the 1 day in order to receive the free dining. I tried 3 times to have the ticket seperated from our room key, and no CM would do it. I really just didn't want my old roomkey with no reference to the fact that it is a valid ticket laying around. It looks like an expired item. Anyone have any luck with this? I had read on the boards that WDW would remove the 1 day ticket if requested. Thanks!

So if I want to add DDP to my room now... I will have to pay a penalty? How much of a penalty? Our trip is in 2 weeks.

The only time there is a penality that I know of is if you already have a package and make a decrease in price within the 45 day window. It's 50. It sounds like you have room only so I don't think there is a problem to add the free dining. We had a room only with an AP discount for Sept 28 for 6 nights and when the free dining came out on the 18 or 19th, we changed our reservation to the free dining and even added a person no penalty. We lost our AP discounted rate, but the free dining and value season rate for all nights made it worth it.

As a matter of fact, I did it several times with no problem. The resprt CMs couldn't do it. I went to the DTD guest services my last day and just asked to have the one day tickets removed from my room key. They did it with no problem. I also went to guest services at MK and they did it once, but the CM had to ask for help. Now, I forgot to do that with my room key from this Sept (free dining trip--so had to buy at least a one day ticket:mad: ), so what I did was just take a permanent black marker and wrote on the front of the room key that it had an unused park ticket on it.

Sorry, I wasn't clear on my previous post. The above poster is correct. Usually if you make a change to your reservation that would increase the price of the pkg, then Disney would waive the changed fee. You only pay the change fee if the change means the price of your ressie, goes down in price. Sorry about that!:flower3:

BTW: I recently added on the delux dining to my ONE DAY room reservation. For $140 I get 2 mugs, 4 snack credits, and 6 TS credits. And the best part is is that I have 2 days to spread out the credits. So after I eat at the more expensive places for my first 2 nights, I then move to my DVC resort and use my DDE card for all of our other favorites. This is a great new perk.

Glad you were able to do so. I asked at least 4 places. All say they couldn't do it and just keep the room key. I did the same as you with the marker. I think this is important since it looks like an expired room key. Maybe they really want them to be forgotten about. Who knows!
