I read a little about this but I am not sure:
Is there anything I can do to make my chances of getting a dream bettter?

I want this trip to be special for the kids.

Arrive early at the parks, lots of dreams are awarded early in the morning, such as dream fastpasses and the castle stay. :)

I think all dreams are handed out by 5 pm.

Yep, completly random
However, I always try and make my own little dreams happen for my family

I get tons of great ideas from The Dis
Last Nov, I got my DS7 right up front at the Star Wars Jedi traing and he
got picked, fought Darth Vadar and that made that boy's trip! They even
get a diploma which I framed when we got home, it evens says
The Year of A Million Dreams Logo down the bottom

We are going back in July this year and I really want to try and get
our family to co-pilot the monorail
Now, that would be a dream!
Good Luck!!

You are an awesome parent! :cool1:

We also are going to try and get our kids in to co-pilot the monorail, I read that the best time is later at night.

Last year our kids were "dreamed" many times. They got to be official cotton candy taste testers, had some special things at Epcot, and our DD got to be lead the dessert train at Spirit of Aloha. They received certificates for each thing and got other prizes. It was their first trip so those little things made it extra extra special. Now that I've found DISboard I'm learning of other things I can do to add that special magic. We're getting personalized menus and a diver at CR, etc...

Thanks!! My DS7 and I also got a dream last year
While in the room waiting to board our Tower Of Terror elevator
our whole group won the laynards with the special YOAMD pins
which I ended up giving mine to my 4yrd old :)

Sorry to break it to you, but we have been at WDW 4 times during the Year (or 2 ) of a Million Dreams. No dreams, not even a nightmare. No sighting of the Dream Team. Your best bet is to make your own dreams for your kids.

just going to WDW is a dream come true. free stuff is nice, but really, we will be going for the first time ever in Novmeber... thats a dream ,a fantasy, an amazing thing. we are sooooooo thrilled!!

To improve your odds of winning a dream prize get to the parks when they open and jump on as many attractions as possible. Don't overlook the small attractions either. They've proven to get dreams as well. Our family won dream fast passes walking into Rafiki's Planet Watch at the Animal Kingdom one time.

Most of the dreams are handed out by Noon; however, some are still handed out between Noon and 5:00PM, but limited.

The dream fast passes are always given out at a random ride in the park right after the park opens. We got ours at Ebcot wile waiting to ride soarin right at park opening. The girls were thrilled concidering all the fast passes to soarin were gone by noon, but they were able to practically walk in at four in the afternoon when the wait time was over an hour! the people in front of us had waited nearly an hour and a half. (boy did I feel bad) The little stuff is completely random. My daughter was wearing an alice dress wile passing the tea cups in the mk, and was treated to an unbirthday party complete with song, and signed picture of Alice herself.

ever since my little girl was 2.. Tinkerbell comes to our resort room every day and leaves surprises... this is so magical for her.. its better than the dream fast passes... but you know.. I would prefer the fast passes.. but to a child.. make it even more magical... let Tink come to your room and leave pixie dust and everything.. its so coo!

My daughter is getting a little to old for pixie dust, but I do agree that you have to make your own magic on these trips. Getting dreamed doesn't make the trip, I certanly wouldn't follow cast members around trying to get it. It's the spontinaity that makes it great. We just happened to be in the right places at the right time.

We went down last year for my birthday/our anniversary, and it may be a coincidence, but we seemed to be at the right place at the right time, several times throughout our stay. Best seats at Cindy's Castle and Hoop Dee Doo, as well as fast passes, and 100th Guest Certificate at The Plaza. We wore the birthday/anniversary pins religiously at every park.

Not necessarily. My DH & DS got Dream Fastpasses early afternoon during last month when we were there. I got to watch them gloat since I was waiting outside the ride with the youngest since he was too short to ride. :(

To the OP - it is completely random. Some ways to make the trip more magical (imho it is magical just being at WDW!) you can ask to ride in the nose of the monorail, strike up conversations with the CMs (most are wonderful and can share some great info on WDW), ride the train around MK and just have fun!

Just a tip on the monorail copilot. This was an easy one for us last week. We had planned a non-park day and had breakfast at Chef Mickey's at 10:15 AM. After our breakfast we went up to the monorail stop in the Contemporary and asked to ride up front, there was one family waiting and CM said we could but it might be a couple of trains before we got on, we weren't in a hurry so no problem. Second train had room for us so we rode over to the MK and got off there. Our driver was very nice and gave us all co-pilot license. We rode the boats back over to the Polynesian and looked around and shopped some (very nice resort) and then hopped back on the monorail back to the Contemporary. So if you have a time during the day when there isn't so much traffic on the monorail, that's the best time to try to get this or if you have an early (before park opening) ressie for a meal at MK it might work out.

Don't go with the expectation that you will be awarded a dream, we were in the parks for 6 days from open to close and didn't see very many hats, fast passes, or lanyards. Although I think we saw the DT waiting to award a big prize coming out of Star Tours and we saw DT members (minus white vest) walking around talking to guests, trading pins, etc. we didn't see them any more. My DS understands it's going on but we don't obsess about it, that way there is no let down if nothing happens. The past two trips they have both received the YOMD pins (not the lanyard sets) from CM's while waiting patiently in line to meet characters, that made their day.

We went twice during the YearS of a Million Dreams. We saw the Dream Team at work once and met another Team as they were waiting for the Castle Suite family to arrive. We were there for 7 and 10 days.
