We are planning on staying at RPH 1/27 and 1/28 before moving to WDW -- AKL. The Universal site show the standard room rate at $199.00 is this best I am going to be able to do? I have no problem getting the best rate at WDW but have never stayed at Universal all these AAA, Lowes, and entertainment rates make me crazy :earseek:

If you go to the Universal orlando website and plug in your dates and AAA in the promotional code box, it comes up with $159.20 for a standard room. Many other types of rooms will also be listed. I don't think they do Entertainment rates any more, so I would jump on the AAA discount if you have AAA. I know nothing about AP rates since we don't go often or for long times.

AAA seems to be the best thing going, and what most are using.

Put AAA in the box, and see what comes up.

Oh, and flip your stay around so you visit IOA/USF last. You'll be spoiled with short wait times once you stay onsite. You want to visit Disney, and do the usual wait in long lines first.

I have the 2006 Entertainment book, and RPH is listed. Not Hard Rock or Portifino.

I need to call to see if they re out yet for 2006. I may book AAA in the meantime. For my stay in late August, AAA rooms are gone for RPH. So I will book Hard Rock for now. We have stayed at both, and like both, so no problem there........

Really??? Are you sure? Cuz I did a quick search on entertainment.com and RPH is not listed as part of the hotel list.

Unless you are telling me there's a coupon inside the Orlando Entertainment 2006 book?

I played around with the rates on the universal website. Just put in ENT to see what would happen it gave me a cheaper than rack rate, but much higher than AAA rate. I'm new to all this so maybe I did something wrong. Just tried the ENT code for the hell of it.

I have the 2006 actual book, and RPH is there in the list of hotels under Orlando.

OK, I just booked my rooms for late Aug 2006. I asked about the Entertainment book rates. The reservationist said they were in the book last year, but did not book any Ent book rooms. She said Ent book put them in there without neogiating the deal. (???) She said the only Ent books rooms booked last year were thru the Ent book website, and there were only a few. I said you are in again this year, too.

This does not make complete sense to me, but this is what she said....

Just a warning, for my dates no AAA rooms left at RPH. We will be at Hard Rock this time. (we like both). Dates, Aug 25-27.

Amended-- I just registered my new 2006 book, and looked online. Ent rates ARE there for Royal Pacific and Hard Rock, but they are higher than AAA. They hardly seem discounted at all.

The kids are back in school August 25-27, and it's not a very busy time of the year. I find it weird the AAA rates would be gone at the RPR for that time so far in advance. Now if you had said the 1st or 2nd week of August, I'd believe it, that's the worst time to come.

Tried to book 2/26 for four days with AAA but would not let me use it. Does anyone know what they are booking rooms up until?

They put restrictions on what you can book. For example I want to stay a Fri and Sat night in March. I can book HRH and PBH, but not RPH. I don't think the rooms are full because if I want to stay Fri through Sun, I can book it. They are just restricting weekend stays at the less expensive hotel to force people into the more expensive hotels.

What I have seen with AAA is as follows:
When they finally opened to booking, there were no AAA discounts
Then they released AAA rates - only the most expensive rooms had discounts - suites.
More recently they released AAA discounts on all room types.

So the fact that a discount is not available may because it was not released yet, not that it was sold out.

I just plugged in Feb.26-Mar 1 and came up with:

AAA 251.00 standard

APH or no special rate 279.00 standard

PBH

AAA 296.10
APH/no special 329.00

HRH

AAA pool view 329.00 cheapest rate includes AAA and no special rate
