How do I find out who owns an e-mail address?

My friend has been getting e-mails from a hotmail account with an address identical to her hubby's except 1 thing. They are very nasty e-mails, etc.

Any clue how she can find out who is behind them? Can we trace them?

there's an option called "show header". It lists the routing that the email goes through, which is a good indicator of where the email is coming from.

You may want to write to Hotmail technical support to see if they can help track it down as well.
