my FIL recently had to be placed in an assisted living apt--while cleaning out his old place we found alot of old china cups and saucers sets

no one in the family wants them so we're trying to find out where we can sell them to or how can I serch to find places that will buy them

we also have 2 of those big pickle crocks--people are telling us those are worth money but how do we sell them

thanks for any and all help

My personal experience with china sets - they don't go for much. You can try Replacements Unlimited in NC, but I found it would cost me more to ship the items than they would have paid me. As for pickle crocks, it depends on the type. Does it have a blue design? Is it dated? Are there any chips or cracks? Is there a lid? So many variables....

To keep your costs down, I would try Craig's list first. Take multiple pictures of all your items and give dimensions of everything. To come up with a price, check the other Craig's List items as well as eBay. Just be aware that what people are "asking" is not necessarily what someone is willing to pay for the item.

Best of luck!

All of that would be worth some money depending on how old it was and if there is a stamp or made in..... From my understanding the "Made in......." is newer and may not be worth as much. If you think you have valuable stuff than it would be worth it to find someone who can appraise it. You might get the most money in a private sale or auction. Selling it to someone like a thrift store or the company the PP said you will lose money because they will need to be able to to make money on it.

Check with your local library - they might have a night that someone comes in and does appraisals. I know we have one in our local area, and the come out once a month or so.

If you go that way, you can have your items appraised and then ask the appraiser where you might be able to sell your items.
