I recently rented some points from a very nice DVC member and received the confirmation and confirmation number. How do I go about confirming the reservation with Disney. Since I am not a DVC member I relly should not be calling DVCMember Services number and when I called the hotel itself they transferred me to central reservations which naturally had no record. Any thoughts on how to go about this?
Thanks

at the bottom of the confirmation is a telephone number - yes it is for member services - but that is currently the only way to confirm a reservation - just tell them that you are not a member but you wish to confirm this reservation.

We are renting pts for our December trip. Once I sent my deposit and faxed a copy of our contract to the owner, he emailed me the confirmation number and the phone number for MS. I called and told the rep that I was renting points from a member, she asked for the confirmation # and confirmed that the reservation was made by the owner in my name. The owner also sent me the printed confirmation that was sent to him from MS.
From what I have read on the board though that this can be hit or miss because non members are not supposed to really have any access to MS.
Hopefully if we pass ROFR, we will be members by the end of April. :teeth:

I have rented points to several people, and I always give them the MS number to call and check on the reservations. It says to do that on the reservation form, and in fact MS will tell you to have the renter call to confirm. They can't do anything else with MS since they aren't members, so what would the problem be with giving the renter the 1-800 number?

The only problem with the member number being given out to the public and this is a stretch, is that a lot of people try to beat the system whatever way they can. If they can save a buck by trying to get P.S. for meals or whatever by calling the number they will. I have been on these boards for years, I base my opinion on what I have seen on DIS boards, but even that is a stretch, but people will try believe me. My favorite subject on trying to save a buck is the "Life Time Refillable Mug" situation that comes up every now and again. But that happens everywhere and has nothing to do with the subject but tells you how people think about things.

I agree 100%. After all, once you send your renter their confirmation, they have the number on the confirmation form anyway. Member Services told me the same thing, "have your renter call us"

Thanks to all... you have been very helpful. We are really looking forward to our trip in August! I love this board, although I have been to Disney atleast 12 times, I always check these boards and mousesavers and allearsnet prior to going...I always pick up great info.
