How do I cancel DME?

I had made reservations for Pop Century via Orbitz using a $75 discount code. Then I made a DME reservation online.

However, I found out about the 40% off military discount. Since the person going with me is retired military, we decided to upgrade to a moderate making a new reservation in his name.

I cancelled the Orbitz reservation but I can't figure how to cancel the DME. I called DME but I got a crabby person who said that it's too early for her to pull that up in the system (I'm 36 days from arrival :confused3 ) and that I need to call back a week before.

Is there a better way?

Just don't show up. (and don't use the yellow DME tags!)
 
Did you call DME directly at 866-599-0951?

If so, then yes, you indeed got a very crabby CM ... and an incorrect one. The DME database holds reservation info up to 60 days before your trip. SO you are well withinh the window to deal directly with DME.

If you had to wait 'til only one week prior, you'd miss out on getting the helpful (but not strictly necessary) paperwork such as vouchers and luggage tags.

But if you have DME reservations and simply don't use them, there won't be any negative repercussions for you.

Do you have DME reserved on the new reservation number?
 
Not showing up isn't an option. I'm still taking the same flight and will need to check in for my new reservation.

I did call 866-599-0951. I'll try calling another day and hope to get a better CM.

The CM who booked us at POR took our flight info and said that she would set us up for DME. Hopefully all will go well.
 

Oh, so you really want to change your reservation, not cancel it, right?
 
Yes. However, the complicationis that the first reservation (POP) is in my name and the recent reservation (POR) is in my friend's name.

I guess as long as we get the POR luggage tags it doesn't matter. :cool:
 
Assuming you and your friend want to use the bus you need the reservations for both of you and two sets of luggage tags for your new trip. Just cal DME and reserve that under your new reservation number. You can tell them you cancelled a previous reservation and would like to cancel the DME for it as well but if you don't, that is not a big deal, just be sure you use the tickets and tags they send you for the NEW reservation.
