How do I book for 2008??

I found some great airfaire for end of April so I tried booking a room only and the disney site wouldn't let me. Please Help!

the rates are not out yet, you can call and book it and the rate will be adjusted (raised) when they come out.

So the only way is to call them? When do the actual rates come out? I'd like to get the entire package (tickets, dining, etc.) if possible.

Right now its just room-only reservations with 2007 rates. The only reason to reserve now is if you are worried about getting the room type you want because you are going during a crowded time (aka Easter/Marathon Weekend), otherwise you will probably be fine if you wait until the 2008 packages and rates come out in August.

If you do want to book now, essentially you make a room-only reservation for the room type you want and you pay the deposit for the first night on it and then when the 2008 rates and packages come out you switch your reservation to a package and the new rates are updated.

Oh I see. Thank you. We're actually planning to go 4/30 - 5/7 so that's way past Easter and Grad Nites. I looked at the crowd calendar and it's all 5's and 6's. It will really depend a lot more on the kind of airfare I can get. So far, I found about $650 r/t on USAIR which isn't too bad for the 4 of us. When/what is Marathon weekend? You're scaring me

We were driving home from our 12th trip to WDW and were planning our 13th trip (2008). The drive is 14 hours so we had a lot of time to talk. Yep, I know we are a pitiful lot but we just can't help it.

Initially, there was a rumor that the rates would be out June 23rd. I waited up until Midnight on the 22nd so I could look online. No such luck!

I've been calling almost daily (sometimes more than once a day) to find out when the 2008 rates would be posted. The CMs started out telling me it would be mid-August which lines up with the last two years. A couple of other times, I was told it could be as soon as the first week of July.

One CM told me that I would know just as soon as he would know. He said the computer systems are updated every night at Midnight. So, when he comes to work and turns on his computer, they show him the same thing I would be looking at on my computer. I don't know if that's true but I've been checking the www.disneyworld.com website every morning when I get up.

I just hung up the phone with 407-W-DISNEY who said it would probably be the end of August.

If the rates don't come out soon, I'm probably going to book a room only reservation so that at least I know I can get the resort I want.

I actually did a search with the 2007 rates on this forum and it seems that the room only rates were available around July 12 while packages became available on August 6. This means that there might be hope for a bit of news soonish...
