How do I adjust to eating breakfast

when I really have a problem eating when I first get up?

I've learned in the last couple months that if I don't have something, something with protein that I will regret it later. I've had two instances when I was dizzy and light headed, more than normal :p ;) , in the last couple months.
I used to be able to just eat something, it didn't have to be much, just something. Now I have to eat more and uggg, the thought of it.

Does anyone know of something I can eat or do that will help?
 
I'm the same way. I just can't eat when I first get up.

I found that eating things like a bagel or a granola bar makes me feel a little more energized but that's it. I really have a hard time eating hot food in the morning.
 
I'm hypoglycemic so I have to eat something in the morning whether I'm hungry or not. I usually have a PB & J sandwich (protein and carbohydrates!) and I try to get up a little earlier than I used to so I have time to wake up before I eat.

Sometimes you just have to choke it down if you know it's going to cause a problem later! I'm really interested to see what other people eat.
 
I have had the same problem. So now, I drink a glass of milk with Carnation Instant Breakfast powder every morning. In fact, I'm drinking it right now. ;) It tastes really good, and it comes in different flavors. Give it a try, I think that you'll like it.

I am definitely a breakfast person--LOVE IT--but even I cannot eat when I first get up. So, I get up, get myself ready for work, drive to work, and fix my breakfast there. That would usually put me at 2-3 hours after waking. By then, I'm pretty hungry. Of course, I get up at 4:30 a.m. so when I eat it is about 7:30 a.m. If you are a late sleeper, that could be an issue. But even on the weekends, I might sleep until 6:30, I don't eat until 8:00 a.m.
 
Luna bars are wonderful and full of soy protein and calcium.
I like the smores, chocolate peppermint, key lime, chai tea.
If you shop for them, it's possible to find them for a dollar
sometimes. Galyans, Trader Joes, giant eagle and Kroger all
sell them for $1 off and on. I buy them by the case when they
go down in price. Eat one every morning.
 
I'm like that as well. If I don't eat I end up light headed and shaking.

I wake up at 5 a.m. each weekday. I eat around 6:30 when I get my daughters up.

The Carnation Instant Breakfast drinks are great! But something as easy as a banana or a bagel is enough for me. Do you like oatmeal? There are a ton of "hot cereals" out there that are nice and hearty. I ususally have them in the colder months. What about a bowl of cereal?

Remember, the key is to eat every 3 hours! I have something small in the morning and then usually have a piece of fruit around 9:30 and then lunch (a salad) around 12:30. That way you aren't allowing your blood sugar to go up and drop way down.

I can't eat when I first get up...it's at least 2-3 hours before I can eat something otherwise I have an upset stomach all day.

I have a glass of milk and a glass of water before I leave the house in the morning which helps me get something in my body. Around 10-ish I have my breakfast -- I find a hummus wrap (I put hummus, tabouleh, and veggies in a spinach wrap) works well but I've been on a cereal kick of late. A nice bowl of shredded wheat with berries has been a big favorite.

Try having a bowl of cereal mixed with yogurt or maybe even a ham and cheese sandwich a few hours after you get up...just because it says the meal is breakfast doesn't mean you have to eat it right when you get up :)
