How do high scores work?

I was playing pirates and I got 296 points in capture the flag. I was like "Wow! That's pretty high." and checked the high score boards. I'm not on there but the highest score is 295. Does it depend on how you got the points or something? Or does it not show up immediately? I've never been on the score board for pirates, just haunted mansion, and that was updated immediately.

Oh well. Maybe I misread it and got 285 or something...

edit - nevermind it updated and I'm on there now. My first high score! Yay!

Do you get anything for having high scores? Or do they have to be there the full day or something?

It may be because it updates every 15 minutes. I have had this problem so many times, it isn't really fair. I believe it gives you 1000 credits but I don't think i'll ever get that.
