My stores offer double coupons everyday... and it depends on the store policy.. some will double up to $1.00; so if it's a .55 coupon they'll add .45 for a total savings of $1.00. Others only double up to a .50 coupon so .40 will get you .80, .50 will get you a $1 but .75 will only get you .75 .. does that help?
All 3 of our major chains double any coupon w/ a face value of $0.99 or less. So if you have a $0.75 coupon- it becomes $1.50 off the item. I wish they doubled the $1.00 ones.
Now we also have usually 1-2 times a month- triple coupons. Once again only on those $0.99 and under. However, I have to admit I usually save all my $0.75 for those weeks because they become $2.25 off the item. I've gotten many items free or for next to nothing this way.
There is only 1 store in my area that doubles, and it has SOOO many restrictions. Only doubles coupons up to $0.40, no duplicate coupons, and only a total of 15 coupons per order. And their prices are higher that most competitors to start with.
I too save my big coupons for a triple week. I tend to buy cleaning supplies during then since they aren't very cheap and you save $2.25-2.97! Even more if they are on sale that week too
Is doubling coupons an East Coast thing ? I've lived in various parts of Ca and Wa state and have never had a grocery store offer double coupon days. I always read about them in magazines but have never seen one offered at Safeway, Albertsons, or Nob Hill Foods (the markets in our area).
Different states do it. Florida Publix don't but all of the others do. You really have to check with your individual store to see what their policy is. Some limit you to two like coupons while others don't care how many you have. Luckily my stores don't put restrictions on the number of like coupons.
Grocery stores around here (metro Detroit) have been doubling coupons for as long as I can remember. They typically double coupons with a face value of $.50 or less. Every once in a great while, there will be triple coupons at one of the stores, again for face value of $.50 or less.
I'd LOVE to see our stores double up to a face value of $1.00 or even $.99, but I'm grateful for what they do double.

Actually the Safeway Corp just stopped its double coupon program, which doubled up to $3.00. Recently when celebrating an anniversary they had triple coupon week. I saved a bunch and how it worked out I was paid to buy a couple things.
If their is Ralphs by where you live they still double coupons everyday.
