they find out you're going solo? Or at your resort when the front desk CM finds out you're checking in solo? Or resturaunt servers when they learn you're solo at a TS resturaunt. I've always been met with comments such as "How brave you are" or "I've always wanted to take a solo trip to WDW" or "I bet it's fun". Unfortunately, I even had a CM who felt bad for me going solo, she was sure that it was only because my traveling companion was unable to go. But for the first time today, I got a CRO CM who said "Well, I'm glad to see than I'm not the only one who goes to the parks solo and enjoys it." I must say that I was really surprised that it's taken me 10 solo trips to encounter a CM who'll admit to happily going to the parks solo. How about you?

Yes have gotten - your guest cancelled?

or do you mean to come alone?

also gotten - 'great for you' ;)

some people, even CM's, don't understand liking to travel alone. of course being a CM probably requires them to be more social than the general public. So that may be the problem.

glad you finally got one that understood!!!!:thumbsup2 :woohoo: :yay:

When I made my adrs in March I got asked if I couldn't find a friend to come with me!!! Why on earth do you need someone with you to go anywhere? I mean I work with people who won't even go to London alone and its only a 1 hour train journey.

I rarely get any reaction at all from the CM's. When I'm asked, "How many?" I just smile and proudly proclaim "ONE!" ;)

Simba's Mom,

Although I travel solo, I like to meet up with small groups of other DIS'ers for meals and activities. I'll be there 12/4-12/15 and have posted my schedule on other threads. Let me know if you'd like to join me for any of these meals. Then you won't even run into the restaurant hostesses who say "Just one?" I have more fun dining with people anyway, and I hope you can join us at least once.

The same here; no reaction - or at least none that I recall. However, I've only gone on two solo trips thus far. Should I go on more it will increase my chances of having comments directed towards me. Not that any comment would bother me. I have trouble comprehending how so many people are afraid to do something alone if they can't find a companion. You can miss too much out of life with that attitude.

Same here and I book at least 3 solo trips a year.........I have never had a single comment. Some of my friends won't even go to lunch by themselves, I figured out a long time ago, if you keep waiting for someone to do something with you may never get to do anything, I guess you have to be comfortable with yourself to do things solo...........and I defineately am!

I think that's weird that you've encountered so many comments! I've gone
solo plenty of times since 1997, and I've never had a CM make comments to
me when I checked in at the resort or when I checked in for a meal.

Maybe there's a new crop of clueless cast members freshly picked. ;)

Great to see so many proud solo travelers here!

I've never had any comments from Cast Members or other travelers while at WDW, but plenty of comments back home when I tell people how I enjoy (and prefer) to travel solo. Why is that so weird?

I'll be there next from October 13th through the 17th, and will be staying at The Swan. Looking forward to enjoying the Food and Wine Festival for the first time.

Y'all take care!

Nora

I travel to WDW solo all the time. Although I am local, I stay overnight onsight often. I try not to advertise i am solo but usually when I am checking in to the resort the CM always asks if i am solo, even though I am the only name on the reservation. Even at table service restauarnts at WDW i sometimes feel wierd dining alone but, hey i am not going to let that stop me. I think alot of perople are jealous of people who travel alone. Solos can do what we want, when we want, dont have to wait for someone to do this or do that.
In fact, I just returned form an overnight , solo at CBR and I have a two night solo trip planned for the Polynesian in August!

I have made numerous solo trips to WDW, especially during the past year. I cannot recall any CM's asking me why I was solo. In fact, I learned during a semi-solo trip (my dad was at a conference during the day when I was at the MK) in 1981 that there is always room for one-more on many of the popular rides.:cool1:

I am doing my 4th solo trip to orlando since 1994. I am going for 3 weeks and hiring a car for 2 of them (I want to do some drinking for some of the holiday so no car for these days). This is not scary, however 2008 I am planning a trip with my sister (not scary) and Eleanor, Lauren and Robert her triplets who will be 14 then now THAT is scary, three teenagers!!!!!!!!!!!

the OP and I are DVC members we have a big tendency to go more often -

in 2006 I went 5 times - 4 were solo
in 2007 it will 4 times and 3 are solo
