How do characters stay cool in their costumes?

When I did the Keys To The Kingdom tour, the tour guide told some stories about how it wasn't uncommon for the characters to pass out sometimes. Especially after a parade.

Yep, and sadly I and the 100 or so people around me came very close to witnessing this back in June at the Jammin Jungle Parade in AK. All the sudden, Br'er Bear kinda staggered and came about thisclose to taking a nosedive onto the pavement. A performer who wasn't a specific character rushed over and helped them walk for a second, followed by a "Don't worry folks, Br'er Bear just got a little overheated!" I was under a covering in shorts and a tank top and was still ready to keel over. I hate to imagine being out in that heat, traipsing the parade route, dancing, and being covered in fur. I so feel for those characters. :guilty:

There are also buttons in the globe of the parade that the characters can hit if something is wrong. A CM on the outside makes sure that there is a problem and will take appropriate measures to ensure the character is doing ok.

I'm very surprised to hear that there are no small holes drilled into the top of the globes. :confused3 As we all know, heat rises. The small holes wouldn't be visible, unless you were upstairs at the railroad station, and even then, if they were small, I'm not sure they would be visible from that distance. The globe holds the heat, and magnifies it like the inside of a car on a hot day. However, if you open the window of a car, just a crack, it certainly helps. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like a great plan! I second your suggestion. :flower:

I'm afraid I don't quite understand the question. Mickey often wears shorts, yes? And those little dresses Minnie wears can't be too hot. Plus, some of the characters (Donald, for example) don't even wear pants!
:teeth:

What do you mean? Do Mickey and his pals play dress up sometimes? How can I find them in costume?
