How do bounce back offers work?

Is it an option every time you go? Or does it only get offered randomly? I read somewhere that someone had a bounce back offer of free dining at POR (from the year prior) Even though it wasn't offered at POR in 2014 they still had it. How does it work?

If one is offered (and I haven't heard of a lack of one in years), there will be a flyer in the room or buried within the information folder. They have to be booked before you check out from the current stay. BB's often seem to be a preview of what could happen in re discounts or free dining for the public, but at a much earlier time. They often also have similar "blackout" windows to public discounts, in which times discounts are not offered. If you don't see a flyer, there is an extension you can dial to find out about them, but I can't remember what that is. Hopefully someone later will provide that.

Currently the bounce back fliers are stapled in the middle of the "Be Our Guest" booklet that you receive either at check in or in your room. It really isn't that obvious, and you need to look for it and pull it out to see it. In any event you should always dial 8844 from your room to find out what the latest offer is, as it is possible that an old book is in the room.

The offer is in the room unless someone took it out. They don't give it to you when you check in. If not in your room you can call 8844 but it is helps to have the brochure to see the dates. Housekeeping can bring you another. Sometimes it a % off the room or free dining. Not all resorts are offered. Good luck .

Last August I stayed one night at POP, and they handed me a red folder at check in, that included the book with the stapled in offer. Then when we checked in to the YC for the remaining 10 nights there was a blue folder that included the book with the stapled in offer already in the room. Not sure if it matters or not but POP we did online check in as I was arriving at night, and at YC we did not do online check in.

I just want to add that I was able to call to book our bounce back after we checked out. It was done on the same day as check out but I wanted to check with DH (who wasn't able to go with DD & DS & I) about which resort to book. I called after we had flown home. So you do have a little leeway on the time, just be sure to do it on the same day.

Maybe each resort does it differently. But for the last 10 years that we have gotten the BB was in the room. But we stayed club level if it makes any difference. We never do online check in.

How far in advance are bounce backs generally offered? We are going in June and wouldn't be returning for at least a year, are bounce backs usually available that far in advance?

It just depends. Until sometime in August it's dates in the same year. In August and September it's free dining the following year. And then it turns into room discounts for the following year.

Exactly. We booked a bounce back last year for free dining for the following year. They are always good deals, so you should check for the flyer in your room, or just call to see what is offered.

Going this year Sept '15 and Nov '15, what are chances of getting BB (ideally FD) for Dec 2016

We were there last week and the BB in my room only went out to December of this year.

I would have liked to book April 2016 while there, but if you could do it, I didn't know that and didn't... :(

No, this early dates are usually for the same year. They won't change over to 2016 until later. Rates for 2016 haven't even been announced yet.

could you book then move the ressie to the week that you need once they change over to 2016?

Most likely no. If you make any changes, the new dates have to fall within the original offering dates. If dates in 2016 were not included in the original, you won't be able to move to any 2016 dates.
