How do ADR's work?

I want to make ADR's for the following restaurants but I have never done this before so I need a little help since I have no idea what I am doing! Here they are:

Biergarten (Dinner)
Crystal Palace (Lunch)
Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian (including Slipper Dessert for two)

And either

Boma, Jiko or Mama Melrose (Dinner) (not sure which one to do)

Any help would be much appreciated!

Well, you call the Disney Dining number: 407-WDW-DINE, and tell them your dates and what restaurants you want to go to. They will ask you what time you are wanting and try to get you in from there. An ADR time means that you show up at that time (or a few minutes early) and the next available table that fits your party size will be yours. You may still have a wait but nothing like you would if you don't have an ADR. I think our longest wait has maybe been 15 minutes. You will get a confirmation number, don't lose it, that is your proof that you made an ADR if they have some sort of problem (never happened to me thankfully, just heard a few stories on the dis). There are some places that require a credit card to hold your reservation but I don't think any of the ones you have listed do that. You can cancel your adr's, they ask for 48 hours notice as a courtesy. You can call up to 6 months in advance now. Good luck! If you have questions regarding these specific restaurants and want reviews you can post this on the Restaurants board. Also, www.allearsnet.com has menus with pricing for all the WDW restaurants. Good luck!

If you are staying at a Disney resort you can request a print out from the front desk showing all your dining reservations.
You can also use the phone in your room if you need to cancel/change/or add ADR's while you are there.
One other suggestion is not to make a dining reservation far from where you plan to be on that day. It makes it easier if you plan your meals around your theme park visits. This will save a lot of time.
