How do a Princess & Pirates go from Wilderness Lodge to a Disney Cruise PTR

Oh, Donna, I am SO sorry! I have only been married a year, so I am not wise - I am :headache: to hear you changed your plans to include DH and now he's pitching a :furious: . So I will just keep my mouth shut about that.

But I will say that this trip IS about you, and you have every right to enjoy that. I have a good feeling that everything is going to work out, and in the end you'll have a wonderful time!

:grouphug:

I appreciate your feelings of not wanting to bash your husband - but how many of us are thinking of "Everybody Loves Raymond"? how his wife remarks (way too often, but its tv and not real life) "IDIOT" and in the end (its TV) he "gets it" sorta kinda maybe...

Donna, get a babysitter.

Go out to eat with DH and have a serious "lvoe" talk - do not go into accusing, use the psych talk "I feel hurt because" and I want to know how you "feel" or is everything ok because your words hurt -

maybe he's feeling left out?

I'm sorry -

just know when you do get there - your WISH FAMILY will envelope you with support - every single step of the way!! Truly!!

:grouphug:

Donna! I totally agree with AlohaAnnie -- maybe something ELSE is up? Is there something at work that he is feeling the squeeze about and now his stress is worse because he knows he is going to be gone? It isn't fair to deflect that stress on you -- but the trip isn't new, so it may be that something else is. That is just my take. And, really, it is something that you need to do for yourself, to prove to yourself, whatever it is that brought you to do it in the first place. And maybe remind him that you wanted to include everyone in your family in this special event so you made that change, and now you have made another sacrifice by moving resorts to lessen his role with the race. I sense it is going to be fine. But maybe exploring these suggestions that everyone has given will give you food for thought.
I know you are going to make it to this race and accomplish this personal goal. YOU CAN DO IT.:goodvibes

Hi Guys-
Thanks for all of your supportive comments, you are all lovely people.

We are no longer at CBR, I had to book 2 nights at an off-site resort (Caribe Royale) for the marathon, and our 4/3 trip is now May 9th - 16th.

I don't know how I'm going to break it to the boys. I've been talking to them for weeks about WL, and now we won't be going there, and now we have to come home on Monday, after not getting there until late on Saturday. Barely enough time to do anything or go anywhere, esp. since Sunday will be taken up by me doing and then recovering from the Half.

You all gave very good and responsible advice on how to handle husband, but I am so mad at him I can't even bare speaking to him. I can't believe he has done this. He has not just done this to me, but to his children. How do you take a Disney trip away from your kids???

Anyway, I'll stop now, and maybe I will be able to think more clearly tomorrow. But today, I have to admit, I am the saddest I have been in a long time. It's not just a trip to Disney, it's what his selfishness represents to me. Oh well... I guess I need to wrap up this pity party...

Thanks for listening. So much for my first ever PTR. I guess I jinxed myself, certainly I have embarassed myself.

:grouphug:

You most certainly have not embarrassed yourself. This PTR can now be your trip report for May, and I hope you'll continue to share your plans with us! :goodvibes

Well, since I have double posted in my excitement over your May PTR, I'll throw in another well deserved :grouphug: ... And one of these  ... and maybe a :thumbsup2

ITA and add another :grouphug:

Time is a good healer - open your heart - and my he open his and feel your pain, and your children's pain!! :grouphug:

sad -

I hope the WISH team is there for you!

Donna, You have NOT embarassed yourself. Plans changes. Dates change. It's not embarassing. It's life. At least you are in the company of others who understand your excitement and your disappointment.

I totally empathize with planning and planning and having a vision for something and then, suddenly, it all changes. And it isn't a positive change. I hope that you can focus on something positive, get your mindset ready for the half marathon. It's challenging to deal with all the changes and still have your groove on for the big day. I think you owe it to yourself to do what you can to make the best of the situation and follow through to the best you can with the focus of the plans, which is your achievement in participating in the half marathon.

That was the original goal of the trip to Disney, and it still remains. Try and focus on that.

Rescheduling your vacation seems like a good compromise if timing is off with DHs work. I feel your frustration. Things like that would happen with my DH too. Especially when he worked in consulting. Suddenly, client needs would come to a head and it required his attention, time, and effort and there was nothing that could be done about that.

I'm happy for you that you still get to plan a weeklong vacation! Will you be at CBR? There's plenty of time to get excited about your new plans. We can definitely help there.

The boys may be disappointed. But they will take their cue from you. However you feel about it, or whatever feelings you project is what they will ultimately decide they feel as well. It's the hard business of parenting to put forth feelings and emotions that are at war with how you really feel, but you do it with your children's best interest at heart. If you can muster up some excitement over the changes, then they will be excited. The boys have no real concept of deluxe or moderate or value. Their ideas of amentities and things that are cool are totally different. If you are staying at CBR and you show them pictures of that new pool, they will be excited. The key is to just focus on positive, the forward momentum.

As for the disappointment of this weekend. I hope they quickly recover from that. And I think they will. The young have such a wonderful ability like that.

I don't know if my rambling is helpful or not. I hope to express my understanding and offer encouragement to move forward.

Just jumping in on the line, of "YAY" to a May PTR, :goodvibes And remember you will still be going before the rest of us are!!! ;) and we will be hanging onto your PTR in anticipation!!! So GOOD luck on the race, and those little boys will be able to bounce right back into the excitement in a few months. Shoot, it will be here before you know it!:thumbsup2

Do YOUR thing this weekend!:cheer2:

Donna, How did the half go?

I should tell you that you inspired me to want to run one too, and now I read your sad post and wish I had seen it earlier - so that I could encourage you and remind you about visualization, and all that supportive stuff.

I hope it went well!!!!

Tomorrow is the big Princess half marathon, you will do well. I will be thinking about you as you power walk through the castle. Wish I was there! What an awesome adventure. We want to know everything! :cheer2:

How did school go for the boys?

How did school go for the boys?

Thanks for your support guys, but you're a little early in my run. I leave this Saturday after the boys have their Open House "interview" and I "run" on this coming Sunday, March 8th. So your best wishes are right on time.
I sure hope they get in to the new school, b/c my husband and I are a might displeased with the one they are at now.

I'm excited for our mini-trip. Not pleased with staying off-site (for me that's a sacrilege) but we got a 2 bedroom suite with a jacuzzi tub, so that tub might come in handy after my race. I'm trying to look at it that way.

Based on how fast we can get to Orlando after the school Open House, I need to go by WWS to pick up my race packet before 5pm and I have a DIS meet at POR about that time, too. So my goal is for all of us to eat at POR on Saturday night, and just go back to the hotel.

Sunday morning is my race, which begins at 7am (also Daylight Savings Time). I am hoping to rest for a few hours after the race, and then go to MK. MK is open until 10pm on Sunday, so I'm hoping the boys can have a good time if my body cooperates.

The only ADR that I have kept from my original list is the one for Tusker House in Animal Kingdom. I have it for 8am on Monday morning, with the idea that it would be an early entry into the park, but I have discovered that EMH that morning is for AK, so we won't have early entry, but I think it will be nice to be there that early anyway. And that is where we will be until we leave to go back home.

So, those are the ideas for the mini-trip.
Yesterday, I was able to make some ADR's for our new May trip, so that will be in an upcoming post.

Thank you to all the Ladies who wrote in and gave me a pep talk about the dramatic change to my trip. I'm in a better place right now about it, and will continue posting for the upcoming May, and letting you know whether or not I get a Princess medal this weekend.:flower3:

OK. In the spirit of good ... something..., I have decided to think positively about my upcoming MAY trip to WL. If I haven't already mentioned it, my dates are May 9-16th. My twins birthday is May 7th. We usually celebrate their birthday at WDW, but they announced earlier this year that they wanted a "real party" (WHAT? Princesses in Epcot are not a real party???) with their friends this year. In fact, when I told them we were now going to Disney in May, the first thing Alex said instead of "Yippee!" was "what about our party and my BF Phillip?" Alex LOVES his Phillip (but that's another story). I told them they will still have a party AND WDW. (I think my guys are getting spoiled :sad2: ).

I called and made some new ADR's for the May trip. I thought I would post them now, before my half marathon trip. When I get back from that on Monday, I will either be elated and want to tell you all about it, or sobbing hysterically for getting swept, and y'all will then have to cheer me up. SO... to avoid potentially forgetting about the dining plans, I will do them tonight.

I'm almost hesitant to ask, but I was wondering how did the half marathon weekend go? I hope everything was okay. Would like to hear from you.

Hey Guys:wave2:

I'm sorry you haven't heard from me.... I thought I already wrote to you about my Half Marathon trip. Duh!:confused3

Maybe I was waiting for the professional pics to come in. Although I'm afraid I look quite "fluffy" in the professional pics... that was a bummer.

I GOT MY MEDAL! Yippee! and I averaged 15+min./mile. I was happy with my time, over 300 people came in after me.

I haven't downloaded my pics yet, but as soon as I do I will do a Princess HM trip report here. I just wanted to touchbase with my DIS friends, since I seem to have neglected you...

I am very happy and I can't wait to tell you all about it.
