i was considering the possibility of getting two studios for my family instead of one 2-bdrm... so i wanted to find out this info about the option.

is it very difficult to request and get two studio rooms that are close to each other?
i know studios are all scattered throughout each DVC resort.
and, i know that at OKW, for example... due to the size of the resort, i'd have to request 2 studios in the same building or adjacent building.

i have the feeling that this concept is pretty impossible... but wanted to get your opinions on this.
if anyone has any related stories they could share, that'd be helpful too.
thanks.

While we have never requested 2 studios close together, we have had an occasion where we had a 2 bedroom and an additional studio a couple of times when we had a large party at WDW. The few times we requested this (at OKW) the request was met. We were on a different floor from the extra studio one time, but it was located in the same building each time we requested did this. Just remember to list your requests in order of priority and make sure MS knows that your first request would be that the 2 villas be as close together as possible. You will probably be fine.

We have done this before, 5 times, in fact, and both times at OKW they did quite well. Once we were in the same building directly below our daughter's room, and once we were in the same building and on the same floor, so we were quite pleased with OKW. BWV's record for us has not been as successful. Once we were directly next door to each other, and once we were across the hall from each other, but the third time we were at opposite ends of the building--and it's a VERY long building! When I complained, I was told to be thankful that we were on the same floor. We had a BW view right above Jellyrolls, and my daughter was located way over by the quiet pool, as far down the hall as you can get. What was especially irritating was that three of the rooms across the hall from us were all vacant, people checked in later in the day so they could have given her one of those rooms. In fact they could have given her one of nearly 100 rooms that would have gotten her closer than where she was. When I did this with my sister, she ended up around a very long corner, overlooking the dumpster and the Swan--when she got home she bought into Marriott :p

We had 5 standard view studios at Christmas at the BWV. Four of the five were right down the same hall, the fifth studio was one floor down. We just took the fire escape stairs down and up and it worked great! We made the request to be 'nearby' when we made the reservations. Other trips we have had a two bedroom near a studio and the two rooms were not as close. Good Luck!

IMHO, it mostly depends on what rooms are available on the day you check in. I think that the room assigners do their best to meet requests - but many times, it is just not possbile to do so because the rooms that qualify are already occupied or assigned to guests that made their reservations earlier than you.

Since OKW has the largest nubmer of rooms, I think it may be easier to get two rooms close together there than it may be at BCV, VWL or BWV.

Off by a floor usually. We have done this a bunch of times at OKW, we have gotten the same building each time.

Isn't "off by a floor" the closest you can get at OKW? There aren't any interior hallways, right? So you'd have to use the stairs (or elevator) to access another studio even if it's on the same floor, right?

Obviously, I've never stayed at OKW, although I hope to someday. :D

I am glad you asked this question.
We are taking our parents (3 sets) next Jan. are will be requesting a 2-bedroom and 2 studios close to each other if possible.

Our guests know they might not be close to us, but it would be nice to be an easy distance. The same building would be perfect.

the thing that worries me about OKW though... is that OKW is a series of buildings spread out over a huge resort...

so, worst case scenario, you could have 1 studio down by South Point, and another studio all the way across the entire resort up at Millers Rd or something.
that's really far apart!

but, the thing with BCV, BWV, or VWL is that at least you'd technically be in the same building, right?

i don't know... *sigh* hm, i think BWV actually has more studios than OKW though.

btw... does BWV have the longest hallway? how long does it take to walk from one end of BWV hallway to the other end?
i guess i'm starting to think about worst case scenarios. which resort would have the rooms closest together, if it was a worst case scenario and you got rooms really far apart?

Last May we reserved a 2 bedroom and 2 studios and asked that they be close together. We got all the rooms on the same floor and corridor. They were separated by maybe 3 rooms (we seemed to get every 4th room.

This past Jan. I had 2 studios next door to each other that were reserved in my name.I also had reserved a studio for a friend that was in his name and he was put right above us.I never asked for this -the only request I made was non smoking.Maybe they just filled the building as they went along? It was very empty in Jan.!

We often travel with family members and have had excellent luck requesting and getting adjoining studios at OKW, VB, and BWV.

Most recently we had a family birthday at BWV. While our rooms were not next door this time, they were quite close, a couple of doors down. Every other time we have made such a request we have been next door, sometimes three studios in a row.

We always make the request at the time we make our ressies and so do other members of our party, who make their own ressies for the same time period.

Good luck, MJ

I don't think I would worry about this. From the looks of the replies to this thread, there is yet to be one DISer to say they were placed in rooms far apart (at OKW anyway..) I would think if you let MS know ahead of time, they should be able to meet this request fairly easily. After all there are studios, 1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms located in every building. As long as you don't get excessively particular in your other requests, you should be fine.

We have 2 studios booked at vwl in dec ( the inlaws are comming ) and before I could say any more, I was asked if I wanted them next to each other.

Got a laugh when I asked her for different floors. ;)

David :p
