to add on a very small contract through a resale? Say, something like 50 points? Has anyone ever had success doing something like this? I'm kind of regretting that we didn't get another 50 points when BWV was still available. We don't need it right now (but coudl find some way to use the points) but I anticipate wanting it in the future.

I have no personal experience with this, but I think it would be cost prohibitive because of closing costs etc. That is just from basic knowledge of how real estate closings work, and I assume timeshare resales would work the same way.

We did a 50 point add on at Hitlton Head through a resale. We made a low offer that was accepted and split the closing costs with the seller. It was still cheaper than the $65 Disney was charging at that time.

They are very hard to find in the resale market. One problem faced by sellers who want to sell such contracts is that timeshare brokers tend to have a minimum commission of $1,000 to $1,500 on any sale. As a result selling a small contract through a broker can be prohibitive for a seller, e.g., if he sold 50 points at $60 per point, he would get less than $2,000 (or less than $40 per point) after commission and some other costs. In other words, the seller would take a large loss. At the same time, the buyer who paid that $60 per point would also pay closing costs of about $500, meaning his cost would be $70 a point--a price that is close enough to Disney that many buyers would not even bother on the resale. A second problem is that the majority of people who are selling are trying to sell everything they have and that 50 points (likely a previous add on) would just be part of the total points the seller usually wants to sell without dividing his contracts. Net result is that it is really difficult to find such resales through brokers. If you put yourself on a list with a broker, one might pop up in the future, but I would not get high expectations.

Well I have been on a wait list with a resale company for a least six months now for a 100 point or less add on to my Boardwalk contract. I do want my same use year so I know I will be limited to things that do come up. But I too do not need the points right now but if something came along I would jump on it.

My father has bought two add ons at OKW. Both were under 100 pts. I believe one was 66 and the other in the 80s somewhere. They were a year and two years ago, so the price isn't relevant. I know he waited two weeks after putting his name in once and two or three months the second tims.
