How difficult is it to find points for transfer?

How difficult is it to find points for transfer? I am thinking of starting with 50 points and then posting an ad requesting a transfer. Here is my scenario: I find a 50 purchase from TSS and then annually look for a transfer of 200 points @ $10 a point ($2,000) or whatever I need. Am I over-simplifying this?

If you will truly need an additional 200 points, it will much less costly to purchase more points yourself. It's certainly possible to find other members willing to transfer to you, but you will be overpaying in the long run. IMO, members should only seek a transfer for the occasional time they will need more points. If additional points are needed each year, it's time to add-on.

You can do this, sure. But finding the exact number of points you need each year for the resort you want (assuming the 11 month booking advantage is important to you) may be a hassle.

I use the transfer ability to get points for special needs, like a family reunion. Or I transfer points if we are not using them (rare) and have no need to bank them. I wouldn't want to use transfers as an annual event to book my normal vacations.

It's always easy to find a point transfer - if you are willing to pay.

But if you want to get those points at a particular price - especially if you want to be down on the cheaper end - it can be tricky. You'll probably be able to do it, but there are no guarantees and it can take work.

You really have to find a perfect match each year. Uy, Resort,price,number of points, and trustworthy.
That is alot of work as a long time plan. It is definitely doable, but you will kiss alot of frogs in the process.

Thanks for the feedback. My family had such a good time at an OKW villa earlier this year. We got in via an Interval trade I made in late December of ‘08. We would like to go back, but now that it is DVC is trading with RCI, that won’t work. Paying cash direct through Disney seems so expensive too.

Anyway, I think I will try the 50 point option and give it a try. If it doesn’t work, they seem to sell fast on TSS.
