How difficult is it to change resorts Thinking of doing 6 nights All-Star Movies and 5 night someplace else. Not sure were the 'someplace else' will be yet! :goodvibes

Wanted to see if it worth the trouble before I change anything on my current reservations.

We find it really easy to move. Disney will transport your luggage for you so that's nice. The only downfall is that for part of the day when you move you don't necessarily have a room to go to. That doesn't bother us though (we don't have kids yet) because we typically leave the resort early in the morning for the parks and go 'till mid-afternoon, by that time the new room is ready. HTH.....

You will get a variety of opinions on this topic. We definitely did not like moving from AKL to the Poly last summer. We spent four days at each resort, and I really did not think we had enough time to enjoy each of the resorts offerings. We loved both resorts, but would have prefered to have stayed at either one, for the entire eight nights. Especially the Poly....There is just so much to do there...

Some people love to split a WDW stay....They feel it is like getting two vacations in one! We just did not like the unpacking, repacking and unpacking homeless for the day situation. It was like we missed a vacation day dealing with the move. And, of course, I always have room requests so the room is never ready early.

Enjoy planning your vacation!

Our last three WDW trips were of 8,8 and 9 days, and I like to 'settle in' to my environment. We couldn't do that this Jan. as we did 3 days at Swan, 2 at AllStar and 3 at Dolphin. I won't do this again unless it's a split between S/D and we can just wheel our luggage to the second one in the morning and go about our business. Definately don't go from a better resort to a Value. We were fine with AllStar 6+ years ago but it seemed a big come-down to us this year.

Thanks for posting this question, I have been trying to decide about staying at 2 resorts during our 5 night stay in October.

My husband and I are going to WDW to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary, and I thought about staying in a deluxe resort for 2 of the nights. I really don't know if I want to waste any park time on the move.

Another thought I had is if we use the Magical Express service, would it be confusing to be dropped off at one resort and picked up at a different one for the ride back to the airport? Has anyone done this?

:goodvibes

Two thumbs up from me. We enjoyed it last year and will do it again next year.

We just did a split stay in March for the 1st time. I would not do it again unless I was there for 2 full weeks. 3 nights Wilderness lodge then 5 at OKW. We rarely go for less than 7 nights so I didn't feel like we had enough time at each resort. There are plenty on these boards that love splitting, maybe I missed something.

It will not mess up Magical Express. They look at the pickup at the airport and the drop off at the airport as two different things.

It is pretty easy however it does waste a lot of time ie packing, unpacking, checking in, etc...We did this once and would only do it again if we had no other choice ie not enough room availability at the resort we wanted therefore splitting stays.

This Aug DS13 & I are moving to the BCV 6nights after 8nights at the VWL

Thanks for posting the question. I was also wondering about switching. We have the option of staying just our first night at CSR then moving the next day to POP. Our plane does not get in until 6:30 p.m. so I don't think we will unpack a lot (maybe just our swimsuits). Do you still think it will waste a lot of time? I don't want the kids to miss a minute of anything.

Other than staying at one resort the day we arrive for a night which is a travel day anyway, we wouldn't switch resorts unless we were staying at each for about 5 nights. But if you're like us and feel that the resorts with their unique theme is a part of the whole big picture of WDW then switching resorts isn't that much of an issue. Even though we're DVC members and we usually stay at our home resort the BWV, there isn't a trip that we don't spend a large amount of time touring the new hotels or checking out the restaurants at the other resorts.

we were in orlando for seven nights last week. The very first night we chose a "cheapie" motel near International drive. Then we headed over to WDW. We spent the first three nights at POP. We were checking in around 9:00 am, and our room was not ready. But we were given a choice of buildings. After 1/2 day at a park, we got back to the resort and our room was ready. We took our luggage from the car to our room ourselves. Because we knew we would be switching resorts mid week, we lived out of our suitcases. then we spent the last three nights at AKL.

On switching day, we packed up the car and headed over to AKL. We were planning on leaving the luggage in the car, but we were talked into leaving it with Bell Services. When I went in to check-in (it was about 8:30 am) we were very fortunate that our room WAS ready. Bell services retrieved our luggage and showed me to our room - giving me the grand tour! Because we were up early on switching day, we didn't miss any park time.

HTH.

We switched from POP to POLY last week, and while it was not a problem and everything went smoothly (room at POLY was ready at 9:30am and the luggage was there at 3PM) there are two things I would suggest. Don't switch more than once and if you have small children, I would discourage it.
I wish we would have just stayed at the POLY the whole trip because it takes alot of time to move the kids (by the time we got the kids up and ready, then made our way to POLY, then got settled in the room, then the kids take naps, then by around 3 or 4 we were ready to go swimming) and it seemed like we wasted the day moving. JMHO. :mickeybar
