How did your 5yrold do on ToT?

Very iffy. My DS was 10 when he rode it and he's a thrill-seeker. He enjoyed himself in the end, but was pretty apprehensive during the ride. Some of those drops feel like they'll never end and I'm sure he thought we were crashing once or twice.

When my youngest was 3 she was tall enough for Splash, BTMR, and ToT. My other girls were 11 and 13. So they got her into riding thrill rides. She loved all of them. BUT (big but) it depends on the child. That trip we also rode PotC and she literally came off that ride stuttering. It lasted 2 years. She said the beach scene with the skeletons scared her. She's a huge PotC movie fan but still not crazy about the ride. Since the time she was 11 and older girls were in college or working I would sit in the "basement" while DD rode alone. For me I just can't do it again. It's everything I hate dark, heights, and closed in spaces.

My DD was always in the 100% for height so was VERY young for everything and LOVED all the thrill rides. ToT now takes a backseat to RnR that she has been riding since she was 6.

My 4 yr old son wasn't too afraid it was my fiance who was screaming yelling "is it done yet" which made him not like it. My kid is a thrill seeker though, if your child can do Splash & Thunder this should be fine too.. My son was more scared on Haunted Mansion.

My youngest did this when she was 4. She started crying in the line once we got in the basement bc she was scared (it might look a bit intimidating down there at first glance for some kiddos) but after it was over she wanted to go again (which is what I knew was going to happen). She's 6 now and still loves it; she's ridden at least two dozen times. It's her favorite WDW ride besides toy story.

my daredevil 4 year old grandson just tuned out the preshow as a stupid tv show so he could bounce up and down. had to sit in one of back rows so he could see over the wall at the window. lost track of how many times we rode but he did not like Haunted Mansion, too boring.

My 5 year old was ok when she rode it with DH, but did not want to ride it again with me with the rider swap pass we had because of DS. She was not really a fan of the drops. However, she says she wants to try it again when we go back, so it couldn't have been too bad for her.

By son rode this at age 5 at DL first time. My nephews 8&10 at the time, felt they had to ride it because he had already done it twice. 8y/o hated it! Just depends on the kid. He still loved it at WDW too our last two trips! But took the chicken exit for RnR. Afraid of going upside down, but not dropping to his death in elevator, go figure!

My 5 year old was fine, but my wife had an unfortunate accident.

This and Pridence64's husband just made me snort with laughter.

My DS first rode as a young 4, and he loved it. I prepped him in advance, and held him in the library. I told him it would be dark in the library while we watched a video, and that the CMs were going to act spooky. The I told him the first half of the ride was dark and had pretend ghosts (my nephews were more terrorized by the ghosts than the drops), and that it would feel like we were falling. He was silent through the whole ride and clung to me, but as soon as we got off her asked to go again. It's his favorite ride, and the one he wants to go on first in 2 weeks!

My son was "traumatized" by it, but LOVED RNR He was insistent that TOT was the first ride on the first day on his first trip to WDW (a lot of firsts) and I obliged. Well, it went over like a turd in a punch bowl and he's just now getting the nerve up to ride it again May 23........he's 14 now

Well, I feel like a weenie. I love roller coasters but swore ToT off when I was a teenager...

I would definitely think it depends on the kid. My DD is four and just tall enough and no way would I let her on it, she'd be terrified. Last time I rode it a little girl behind me went into hysterics because she was so scared, so maybe err on the side of caution if you're not sure. Some of you have some serious little daredevils on your hands

My DS5 has never ridden TOT, but he won't even let us listen to the SONG on the Parks CD when he's in the car!

And that is just A-okay with Mommy because I am NEVER going on that ride again!

when my youngest was tall enough (on his second trip) he rode it 11 times in a row (while most of us were doing Rock and Roller.. he loved it... and it is still his fav ride now that he is almost 54 inches (and 9...)

My DS who is also 6 asked if we could do it again. We had FP so I decided to wait and see if he really wanted to. Well he wouldn't stop asking for hours so we did it again.

And when asked what he wants to do in the World when we go in August which he will be 10 all he wants is 2 things. TOT during the day and TOT at night.

DD5 loves thrill rides and the moment she got off ToT she begged to go back on. She loves the stomach dropping sensation but isn't a fan of the video beforehand. This was last August and she has spent the last 8 months talking about how she can't wait to go back on the ride again!

Our youngest was 4 when she tried ToT for the first time and LOVED it! Rode it 9 times that trip and at age 8 now it is still her favorite ride. I did show her what would happen on YouTube and told her the screams were people having fun

My boys didn't ride it for the first time until they were 10 or 11. They still don't love it. They are not afraid of it, but just don't care for it. My wife and I love it and ride it often. You just never know.

My DS was 3 1/2 when he rode it the first time because he insisted he wanted to go with me. I tried to convince him to do something else because I thought he'd be too scared, but he loved it.

Before this though, we did warm him up with BTMRR, Splash, and TT.
