DD will be tall enough, and she's kind of a thrill seeker, but I'm wondering if ToT is out this trip?

It all depends on the type of kid you have. My little sister rode it when she was 5 and hated it but my niece rode it and she was 4 and absolutely loved it. Its knowing their limits.

Depends on the kid.

Mine did fine with the drop, but the spookiness got to him. A lovely Grandma from Boston adopted us in the line and chatted with him and held his hand on the ride--her kindness was such a gift and helped a lot--but it was something he isn't really keen to repeat.

My 4yo DS just rode it and wasn't a fan. He didn't cry or anything, but he said he won't be doing it again. This is a kid that loves roller coasters but he didn't like the free fall feeling of the drops.

Our 4 year old thrill-seeker loved it. She also loved EE at age 5, and is looking forward to RnR in three weeks (but is scared to death of Dinosaur).

I say go for it, because you never know until you try.

Mine would've been fine... If they hadn't gotten terrified by the pre-show. The four year old started crying, which got the 5 year old going... And that was it. Couldn't get them on the ride.

Agree with others, depends on the child. My DD rode it for the first time when she was 4 (now is 17) and did't like the feeling in her stomach from the free fall, however she continued to ride it with us if we would buy her a huge lollipop afterwards. Now of course she laughs at that, loves ToT and is a total thrill ride junkie.

When we took our DS a few years ago it wasnt the ride that he didnt like. It was the lead-up to the ride. He didnt like the video of how the hotel became haunted and all of that. The ride itself should not be a problem if she likes those types of things.

It was my 4.5yo (JUST tall enough to ride it) favorite ride, hands down. He LOVED it. My 8yo? You couldn't pay her to ride it again. She loved all roller coasters (EE was her favorite) but no ToT.

Both of mine were fine. And my DD hates the dark but she knows everything is "Disney made" so she was fine and loved the drops!!

No idea but my 35 year old husband screamed like a little girl and will never go again

Mine was spooked by the Twilight Zone movie so I spent the movie portion with him looking for the hidden mickey (in the little girl's hand)

As for the ride, I just said "as soon as we see the stars, hold on" :)

In the end, he LOVED it!

Thanks everyone! :)

This is helpful... we still have some time before we go, just trying to prepare myself.

My DD 6 loves it... Now don't get me wrong she still gets nervous every time but she loves it afterwards! The 1st time she rode it when we got off she said "I don't ever want to ride it again" by the time we got out of the gift shop she changed her mind and went right back on with her daddy!
But... It does depend on the kid AND if they end up changing their mind while waiting don't force them... That's my opinion anyways! My daughter hated Space Mountain and does not ever want to ride it again (atleast for now) but I think that's bc I couldn't sit with her!

My oldest was 5 the 1st time she rode...no issues. She still goes on it multiple times every trip. :goodvibes

That's ok. Mine jumped to his feet and screamed like a little girl in ITTBAB......at the END. Yeah, cuz there have been 20 minutes of fake bugs running around but that's a REAL wasp stinging your back. *groan*

My DS went for the first time when he was 4. LOVED IT! Made us go 3 times in a row. Luckily we were there at a really low crowd day, so short waits. But our DS is a little daredevil, so your mileage may vary.

P.S. He also went on Space Mountain and Expedition Everest for the first time on our last trip (his 6th birthday). Did SM 3 times in one day. Did EE 4 times in 1.5 hours.

My DD was a very cautious child who did not like new things. I talked her into riding when she was 8- the preshow made her a bit uncomfortable, but the drops did her in. Poor little thing- I can still see her panic-stricken face as the drops kept on and on and on... She didn't trust my opinions about any other rides or attractions for about 2 years. She is 15 now, and loves every WDW thrill ride, but still doesn't enjoy TOT.

If you think your little one will be fine with darkness, spooky atmosphere, the ghost story, and the drops, go for it. Be prepared, though- lots of kids that are good to go before getting to the park get intimidated when they see that tall spooky building and hear the screams coming from it.
