how did you plan your time in Cozumel?

-We all have different budgets- it is unfair to begrudge someone if they are able to buy jewelry. My husband works VERY hard and saves his money in order to afford us luxuries. I hardly envision anyone who can afford a cruise poverty stricken in the first place.

I sincerely apologize if my expectations are too low for the rest of you, but those are the expectations I had and they were well met. Anytime I can have fun with my kids I consider it to be a great time.

- I agree that any time you have fun with your children that is a wonderful thing-no matter WHAT you are doing.
Maybe your expectations are not too low but mine are too high.

I wanted to give an unbiased review of the place instead of being a cheerleader. It has bothered me that Sally has been using this forum to drum up business for her course (for free ) other venders on this forum allow others to rave about them (ie: captain marvins, tiffany town car, happy limo, radisson, perfect gift) they do not personally go on line and sing their own praises. Everyone has a right to their own opinion it is unfortunate that you take mine personally and feel the need to respond towards me. I said many positive things about the place I just simply do not think it is "all that" as the owner is trying to project.

I hope everyone continues to post their own personal sentiments without feeling like they have to defend them. I love reading everyone's posts and hope no one will take someone else's opinions personally. I think Ann is just letting us know how she personally feels about the golf thing. I seriously doubt she meant to degrade anyone in any way. And I do agree that personal "free" advertising is not beneficial to most of us. Anytime anyone benefits monetarily from something said on this board, it's not a true, unbiased opionion. And although getting a diamond ring sounds like more fun to me than mini-golfing, not everyone can do that or wants to. There is room for all opinions here, "in my opinion." So please disers, keep posting and don't take things so personally. Hearing everyone's different take on everything is the fun part of this board. We're all different.

I've been a member of the DIS boards for a few years, although I am not a frequent poster. I usually become a bit more active, once a cruise is 6-8 months away to do my homework. # 3 is coming up, our first Western-so I'm on the learning curve for these new ports.

The information nestled within here is tremendous. It really helps you get prepared for your trip whether you are a zealous over planner, or a bit more laid back as I am. It's the people like all of you on this thread that make this information come alive! I appreciate it greatly! You've all helped to make my vacations very memorable.

I don't think any vendors are totally self serving here. Yes, they benefit perhaps, but that's just smart marketing... Sally got the Taxi schedules & beach info for Cozumel, Shirley sends maps out for Key West & answers questions galore & her shop is in Pt. Canaveral. The point is they have taken their time to help others providing great info to be gleaned & for that I am grateful. If they get business out of it - good for them!

Look at Pete & this whole DIS board thing - it pains me to see people posting that they got better deals at Costco, etc.. when Dreams is the reason this board exists & he allows it- Kudos to him. People use Dreams for the service ( including this board) they provide, not the price. I think that's obvious. Same thing for the other vendors on this board. Will it influence my decision to go there, etc.? - no. But if we feel like playing mini golf, sending a gift basket, booking another cruise, etc.. I'll certainly look to them as they already have provided me with a great deal of service- information. I think someone in Grand Cayman, St. Thomas & St. Martin should be so smart! It would make these boards even better. Dave from Marietta is the best, so is Inkognito! Their sites provide a treasure trove of information that surpasses DCL's own site. There are so many of you that contribute so much- I could go on and on...

As for the DIS members, agree to disagree! Great information can come of it too! The beauty of these boards is the information is there for the taking. You make your memories based on what is important to your family & no one else.

I want to thank all of you for taking your time to post. Sally, Shirley, Pete & the scores of DIS posters THANK YOU!
I'm always learning & it has made our trips terrific!

Thanks for speaking so eloquently and completely on what's on my mind as well. I've been on this board a loooong time (lurking most of the time) and have seen many posters come and go. It's the abundance of information and the differences in opinions that makes this board attractive to many of us.

One other point that we should all keep in mind is that English is not the primary language of all posters here. In many cases, what appeared to be offensive may just be bad word/phrase choices made by a poster to whom English is the 2nd, 3rd, 4th...language.

Please return to discussing the question posed in the original post. Lets not make this a debate about what people's true intentions are. (That is a topic for the debate board not the cruise board) We are here to plan our cruises or to help people plan thier's. Lets not bicker over interpretations.

I agree, TnRobin. That said, I would like to know if it's possible to do a little snorkeling in the coral reef, and still get to a little shopping, and a little "ruins hike". Does that sound too ambitious? Not sure how far away the ruins are. Help, anyone?

Cruzin1st,

One of the best things about the Disney Magic is that your stay in Cozumel, where there are so many choices, is LONG. I would start off at the San Gervasio ruins, in order to beat the heat and bugs. Then head to the beach to cool off. Dzul Ha is an excellent choice for snorkellers. After that come back into town for the best variety of shopping. You might consider renting a car to do all that, as cab fare will add up. Also consider getting a terrific map of Cozumel from:

cancunmap.com

It's not free, but well worth the price! Order it and you can look it over. Then send money or send the map back. They work on the honor system which is so refreshing!

Welcome, in advance, to Cozumel.

The Cozumel Map is well worth the money.

The site is:

It like the Passporter is a valuable source of information.

Thank you ladies!! I will get on that map quest right away!! I've wanted to see Cozumel for so long, I want to see everything in one day, and of course, I can't do that. This will help make some educated decisions, I hope. Thanks again!!!

Hi Cruzin1st!

and a little "ruins hike". Does that sound too ambitious? Not sure how far away the ruins are.

Don't waste your valuable vacation time seeking out Mayan ruins. After the cruise just come over to my laundry room - it'll make the Mayan's look like amateurs...

Buckaroo's Dad,
Your posts are always so tongue in cheek. If I lived in NY, I'd invite you to my next party to keep everyone entertained. Too far away in Colorado. However, my cousin and her husband are moving to near Syracuse. Hmmm.....if they have a party.......

I just love all the help from people at the places the cruise will stop at! To me it feels like an "inside source." And no, I don't feel that I have to go to their businesses. But let me be honest, that I am so excited about cozumel mini-golf that that is the FIRST PLACE my family for four will head to when we get off the ship! And heaven forbid for some reason we can not go to Cozumel.

I'm a big planner and all the help from Cozumel mini-golf and the perfect gift I will never to able to say thank you enough!! In business school it is called smart business, in my life it is called "helping."

So let me give a big round of thank you to everyone who helps us "planners" as we prepare for our cruises!!

:jester: :( :p

You're quite welcome, Tammy, it's a pleasure to help.

We'll see you when you get here!
