Want to know what all of my options are. Thanks!

Well Hi there fellow NCer. We financed through Disney when we purchased. Was the best fit for us at the time.

Home equity loan between close and a bonus check. Paid off in three weeks.

Paid cash for resale (WL); saw the light & ran our add-on (BW) thru Disney Visa for the rewards:thumbsup2 ; then paid it off before the interest accrued.

A cash transaction for CRV:wizard: isn't looking promising though depending on the timing.;)

Bought last November...paid by check in full with part of the money we inherited from my parents.

Can you use any credit card or just the Disney Visa?

I put my original purchase (200 SSR) on Amex Blue (zero percent for 12 months), then put my add-on (150 AKV) on Amex Blue and got home equity loan to pay off Amex Blue before any interest accrued.

Disney takes any credit card. However, only the Disney Visa gives you the zero percent deal.

Hold the phone. Can you explain this further? Is this just for NEW Visa cardholders or does this apply to existing cardholders? How long is the 0% interest for?

Cash from inheritance, what a wonderful why to remember my grandparents.

We paid cash each time but started with small point purchases. We have accumulated just the right amount and have finally cured our add on itis.

We are relatively young, and borrowed against our retirement account. (451 deferred comp, but I'm pretty sure you can do it with 401k) The interest we pay on the 5 year loan goes back into our account so we are in essense paying ourselves interest. There was only a $25 admin fee from ING to get into the program.

There are zillions of 0% credit card loan offers out there...I get probably 3-4 each week (in "junk mail")...but I've never seen one that extends the 0% rate to existing card holders (it's designed to get new cardholders, I think)...

As for DisneyVisa (Chase), they do have a program where you get 6 months of 0% interest for a Disney purchase (vacation and I do believe DVC points also qualify)...or at least they did last year; I haven't seen it advertised in a while (but I also don't pay attention, so it may well still be available)...

Most of the 0% offers are no interest for 6 months to a year--I have a vague memory of seeing one for 15 months, but most are 6 months to a year.

I've done four DVC purchases--the initial buy-in and 3 smaller add-ons. Used new 0% interest credit cards for all 4, and paid all four off before the 0% interest expired.

One word of caution: the last month of the 0% time frame can get screwy...if the credit card company/bank doesn't receive your last payment prior to the expiration, it charges you interest on the amount of that last payment (this happened to me)...it annoyed me no end because I easily could have made that last (small) payment earlier, but I didn't know that interest would accrue during the "grace period" between billing and payment received...as I recall it was only about $4 or so (I had paid off almost all the balance), but it annoyed me enough that I immediately closed that account (I called and they refused to waive the fee)...

The other negative: I now have 4 credit cards I don't use and don't particularly want...I've tucked them away in a "bill box" so that I'm not tempted to run up more credit card debt than I'm budgeted for (actually, I'm not budgeted for any...I do use my credit cards, but only to the extent that I can pay off the balances before any interest accrues)...

So...I can confirm that Disney will take any credit card, and that the 0% plan works well if you do in fact pay off the balance in the 6 months or 12 months you get ...

Good luck!

We just did a 50 point add-on at AKV and took advantage of the Disney Visa 6-month 0% financing (up to $2,500) and I have had my card for several years. Our Guide put 50% ($2,600) on my Disney Visa and then we went with the one year loan financing with Disney for the remaining $2,600. On my credit card statement it showed $2,500 as one charge (the maximum allowed for the 0% offer) and then the remaining $100 as a separate charge. On top of the 0% for 6-months, you also get the 1% in reward points. Easy as could be. :thumbsup2

Of course, now I wish I would have just put the entire $5,200 on the card and got the 1% in disney points for all of it. I didn't realize how easily the Disney Visa would separate the charge to keep the offer available on the $2,500. :confused3

Edited: Just went into the DVC Website - and I can go ahead and pay it off. I might just do that; no interest has accrued yet.

Got ours with a home equity loan, I'm currently paying about $100.00 per month, but I plan to start paying more, would like to have it paid off in a few years.

paid for initial purchase and both add-ons upfront in cash.
losing it in the market anyway, figured we'd be better off "investing" in great vacations instead!
never regretted it!

Our first contract at SSR was a wedding gift from my parents. Our 150 add on at AKV and our 151 point add on at OKW were paid with cash.

Paid cash for the resale at OKW and when DGC comes it will probably be a mix of cash and financing through Disney. Just a note, although Disney does take CC to pay, I don't think the resalers do.

That's true and just another reason that I chose to do my most recent add on at OKW through Disney. I would hate to miss out on all of those Disney Reward dollars
