Va -J-J (stolen from Grey's Anatomy) for your first child? I know that a lot of c-sections are repeats, so I'm just interested in the first delivery. It is said that c-sections account for about 25% of births, but it seems more like 40% at my hospital. Since there are so many women on the Dis, I thought that this would be the perfect place for a poll. Thanks
Me, with my one and only DD, c-section.

I know you're only asking about the first child but thought I would add. I have two kids, both were ******l deliveries.

C-section. He was only 5 lb. 10 oz. but I made basically zero progress after 12 hours and he was getting stressed. I'm having a repeat in August. My Dr. wouldn't even consider a VBAC.

Va-J-J, and , lucky me, it was QUICK! Mild contractions all day, but not enought o be considered "in labor." Water broke at 9 pm, arrived at hospital around 9:30 - 9:45, DD was born at 12:05 am! That's the way to do it!

C-section...DD was about as wrong as she could be in terms of position. Head up, foot on each side of her head and facing out. Once I saw that melon head, I was never so glad for the c-section! :rotfl:

I had a C-Section. As it turns out, even thought I am a Pooh size woman, my bones are too close together to deliver any other way. My mother had 3 Va-J-J births so my Dr. did not even think I would have a problem. I sure fooled him in more then 1 way. He thought I was going to have a very small baby from my measurements and the little weight gain. At 9 months I did not even look prego! My son was 7 LB, 8 OZ, my Dr. says that I must have hollow hips and that is where my son was sitting all along.

I know there are a lot of people who bash women who have to have C-Sections, but the way I look at it. It does not matter how the baby got here, what matters is as long as it is healthy.

I almost had a C-Section with both boys but in the end I had Va-J-J births with both. DS#1 was stuck and had lots of trouble coming out, so they wanted DS#2 to be C-section. I begged to let me try to not have a C. At one point the DR came in and said I had 1 hour to get from 4cm to 10cm or he was doing a C. When he came back I was at 10.

I have no problem with other people getting C sections, I just did not want one!!

DD #1 was breech, so I had a scheduled c-section 5 days before my due date. DD #2 was a scheduled c-section at 39 weeks and DS was an emergency c-section due to a placental abruption at 37 weeks. The first c-section was the hardest to recover from, the second two were much easier.

2 Va-J-J's. First induced at 34 weeks, 16 hours of labor. Second full term, arrived at the hospital fully dialated, and delivered 40 minutes later.

Did you all see last weeks Grey's Anatomy(the one where the family was in the car accident)? The mother referred to it as her "good girl". That was so funny. Well, either way you say it, I've had three of those. I almost had a c-section, but my Dr. was able to get her out with forceps.

I had my dd through a va-j-j. After 3 hours of pushing I said that is it I am not pushing anymore I want a C section. The Dr. said it was to late. I had to keep pushing. Obliviously I am not a good pusher!

After 36 hours of labor and only reaching a 6, I had a C-Section. With the twins, I was going to try for a VBAC but at 38 weeks I hadn't started to dilate on my own and my OB wouldn't induce me so I told her I wanted another C-Section which turned out to be a good decision since DD had the cord wrapped around her neck twice, that could have been a disaster.

My first was a planned c-section since she was frankling breech. My second and third were both VBACs.

I always figured I would probably have to have a C-Section as it seemed to run in my family. My DS seemed to be bigger so they started to induce me on his due date (Which was Feb 4th, 1999) Nothing. I ended up having 10 gels - as they were trying to get me into labor. I was sent home everyday(in tears) I also had 3 all day inductions. I wouldn't even dialate to 1 so they could break my water and then they would have to deliver. Finally, on Feb 20th they got me into labor but I wouldn't dialate past 7 so I finally had a C-section on the 21st at 1:30 in the morning. Next child Dr. asked how I wanted to deliver. That was a no brainer - just schedule a time and cut me open. Had no problem recovering from either (of course I had nothing to compare it to) but didn't think a C-Section was that big of a deal.

Va-j-j here It went fine but the nurse afterwards in the recovery section of the ward said that I was lucky. At this hospital if the baby is more that 9 Lbs they usually do a C. My son tricked the Dr and was a lot bigger then she thought he was. All I can say is that if medically I or my son had needed a C I would have been glad that it was an option.

Of my friends who have given birth this year: 3 for vajj and 2 so far for c.

I was induced at 38 weeks with DS. The induction started at midnight, and DS was born at 4:49pm. I delivered Va J-J (love that from Grey's). No problems, except my epidural never worked! :furious:

I am tiny (98lbs pre-preg weight), and the last ultrasound (3 days before induced delivery) showed DS at 6lbs. After 14 hours of labor, midwife wanted to call the dr and do a c-section. Dr arrived, checked me, and said, I KNOW you can do this, he's so small, let's try again. 45 minutes later, I threw up (appropriate, as I had hyperemesis gravidarium the entire pregnancy), and and out he came! At a whopping 8lbs! Everyone in the room was shocked. Let's not discuss stitches...

I had a c-section, it was an emergency c-section- Ava's heart rate raced up and they got her out in 10 min after they told me what was going on.

She was in the NICU for 10 days with meconium aspiration (sp). I am so grateful to our Dr's for saving my daughters life..if we had waited a little longer it would have been so different.
