Ok, besides Disney ;) how did you decorate your nursery??? Everyone will think we are doing Disney, so we are trying to come up with unique ideas?!?!?
Just curious ... this is SUPER putting the cart before the horse ... we are not even pregnant yet, but we are trying ~ does that count!

Well, I had a snoopy/Charlie Brown motif. Of course, 27 years ago, they didn't have stuff like that in the stores, so my mother in law and mother made everything for me. It was cute and not many people had that motif in their nursery. Still have all the stuff too :)

Well, we did Pooh for oldest...painted murals on the walls. It was beautiful...

For youngest dd we did paddington bear...again hand painted (aunt free hand drew) murals on the wall.

Only thing that made me sad was we couldn't take it with us when we moved.:(

DH and I collect sheep (long story) so we had a bright red and navy blue border with sheep. I made a quilt in red and navy and put sheep everywhere. We used the same set up with both the kids.

Of course we did Disney Babies, different patterns each time(2 different houses).
If Disney is what you like best then I think you should go for it. Dont do something different because you want to surprise other people. You will be the ones looking at it at all hours of the day, and night...make its something pleasant that YOU enjoy! ;)
Good luck trying. Hope you have success soon! :D

Iluvorlando, I know exactly what you mean. We had the best nursery for DS#1, and I wouldnt have moved just for that reason, except we found our dream house and I couldnt pass that up. The killer was the guy who bought the house was single and had no intention of using it as a nursery. So my perfect room was torn apart 2 years later to make an office.

classic pooh
sorry doesn't help with the non disney thing
it was dd's and it will be our new babies too since the stuff is like brand new

Ours is a bugs theme. It's unisex because we did it before I even got pregnant--I didn't want to have to worry about paint fumes when I got pregnant. It has a bug border with fire flies, butterflies, lady bugs, and caterpillers at the top of the walls. The bottom of the walls up to about 36" high is a diamond pattern in white and green, and the walls inbetween are a sponged-on yellow. I should post pictures of it sometime. It's really cute.

I did the baby jungle animals.....painted the room like a light green.....I will have to find a picture (10 years ago!!!).....I think it looked like a showroom room.......

Of course we did Disney Babies too. Our son's nursery is the Circle of Life theme with Simba and other animals.

Notice the Sing Me to Sleep Pooh in the corner...I know it doesn't go along with the theme, but he loves it.

Disney was suppose to come out with Disney Baby clothes to match all the themes that they have, but I haven't seen any yet.

Wow! What great ideas! I didnt even know Disney had a Circle of Life theme!
Kermit ~ what a great idea to paint ahead of time! My dh thinks I am crazy and all this new nursery talk will "jinx" us! We have been trying for several years, but have just found some "drugs" (fertility, that is) that seem to be really making a difference all of the sudden! :)

My DH and I did our nursery when I was in my third trimaster. Dr. said it was okay as long as the paint didn't have led in it. If you watched Trading Spaces last season, Laurie did several rooms while she was pregnant and dealt with a LOT of paint. :)

i had pooh when i was a baby and i still love it now. :)

When I first got pregnant I saw a darling little windup musical stuffed elephant - it was the first baby thing I bought so I had to do elephants! I hung a Babar poster and found a comforter set with an elephant on it etc. It had pinks, yellows and blues with a focus on the blues (good thing since I had a boy!). It wasn't too heavily themed though - no wallpaper or anything. For our second child we used most of the same things with pretty much no theme at all since my oldest kept most of the stuffed elephants etc.

I did a Circus theme with my DD . My DS was done in Pooh. Pooh's tree house was on the wall it was very cute. My bestfriend and I did her DS's room in Mickey, we had found alot of Mickey Mouse Club stuff and used it.

lynetteSC I hope it happens for you soon.:D

Jessica had Looney Toons babies and Bobby had Disney Babies.

Baby #1 - Sun, Moon, Stars. I painted a mural on my ceiling (about killed me at 7 months pregnant!).

Baby #2 - Rainforest. I painted another mural, this time on the wall, of a jungle scene in very bright colors. I loved this nursery, and it broke my heart when DS told me he wanted to change it to a big boy theme. He now has a nautical theme, of which I painted over the rainforest theme and now has two ships passing in the night.

Princess_Aurora, I love your Circle of Life theme. How precious.

We painted the walls a pretty yellow and havea stars/half moons theme. We have a border on the wall and we were able to find half moon nightlights and scatter rugs.

DS #1 was the only one that got a "decorated" nursery. I had so much fun getting that room ready. I used all primary colors, with red being the dominate one. Red and white striped wallpaper, with a clown border.

DS #2 came along so quickly, I didn't have the time, money or room to decorate. He was in a cradle in our room while we frantically added on to the house.

DD's birth inspired me to finally put that house on the market and look for something bigger. The house sold within 2 weeks, and we ended up in temporary quarters for 9 months while we built a new home. So no nursery for her either.

I'm glad I got to do it at least once. It was a really enjoyable part of my pregnancy.
